Meeting Minutes for September 10, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
President, Jane Duzansky called the meeting to order at 7:02, seconded by Kim LaFrancis

APPROVAL OF: May 2, 2013 Meeting Minutes
President, Jane Duzansky made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Christine Heim.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Mrs. Peterson reported:
 School year is off to a great start. We have 419 students.
 The staff and Mrs. Peterson are committed to working with the PTC as a partnership.
 Encourage new family involvement.
 Curriculum Night is Thursday
 The strategic plan will be approved at the District meeting Monday, September 16, 2013
 Mrs. Peterson is responsible for sending eblast. The system is old and does not allow for
graphics to be added.
FACULTY REPORT
Mrs. O. Reported
 The staff was busy over the summer preparing materials for the common core.
OFFICERS’ REPORTS
Presidents Report
President Jane Duzansky reported:
 Amy Schmidt stepped down as Co-President for personal reasons. We appreciate her service
and wish her well.
 Meetings will be following a new format this year.
 Reviewed PTC purchases/new programs/resources that were added last school year.
 New resources include PTC website and committee chair guidelines. Special thanks to Debbie
Etri and Monique Wilharm for their work on the website.
 Donuts for Dads and Chess Club were new programs that were added. Both programs had a
great turn out.
 PTC funds contributed to half the cost of the iPads purchased, $450 was given to each grade
level for teachers to purchase needed classroom supplies, new gym equipment was purchased
and the PTC contributed towards the purchase of new outdoor benches.
 New events for the upcoming school year include; Ice Cream Social and Family Reading Night
that will be hosted by Mrs. Peterson. The Family Reading Night will be paired with the Pasta
Dinner.
 Please let us know if there are other programs you would like to see at Park View.
Vice-President Report
Co-Vice President, Monique Wilharm reported:
 New format for meetings this year. Committee chairs are invited to attend meetings twice a year
to report on event planning and results. Each chair is provided 5 minutes to deliver reports. If
committee chairs are unable to attend, they can submit reports to be read at the meetings.

Monique provided a form parents can use to ask questions about committees or other relevant
topics. Forms should be completed and returned to Monique.
Finance
Treasurer, Jen Brzezinski reported:
 Reviewed proposed budget for 2013/2014 school year. Community Funding was separated out
to show the actual amounts for each category.
 We added ice cream social and budgeted $3000 for special projects.
 The projected ending cash balance for the 2013/2014 school year is $10,474.
 A motion to approve the budget was made by President, Jane Duzansky and seconded by
Kristen Brach and Christy Zima.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
School Supply Kits- Julia Kling reported:
 151 kits were sold, that’s about 40% of the students. 30% of the students purchased kits the
previous year.
 There were more manual than online orders.
 Julia felt the increase in orders was due to parents being able to order online past the deadline for
submitting order forms.
 Order forms were included with registration packets this year.
 Thanks to Jamie Goldman, Lisa Abate, and Jen Nemeth for volunteering.
 Some kits were missing items and the company was very good about making the corrections.
Volunteer Appreciation – Julia Kling reported:
 Julia Kling and Bridget Alcala co-chair this event.
 Second year in a row the event was held at Ellyn’s. Very good to work with and they kept prices
the same. The budget was $350, actual spent was $305.
 In addition to food and drinks, a cake was ordered and gifts for the PTC Board.
 Everyone is welcome to attend this event.
Innisbrook – Kristen Brach reported:
 Sale starts Monday
 Everyone will receive a pencil as a thank you present.
 For every 10 items sold, students will receive a raffle ticket. Drawing will be held at the assembly.
 One student from every class will win a roll a wrapping paper.
 Every student that sells over $100 of merchandise will receive a free movie pass to Movie Night.
Any student who gives a cash donation or $50 or more will also receive a free movie pass.
 Innisbrook gives one trip away to the top seller in the country.
 Ducky key chains will be given to the first 100 students to enter their orders online.
 Top 6 sellers will get a limo ride with Mrs. Peterson to McDonalds for a lunch date.
 The top seller will be Principal for a day.
 A $20,000 gross sale is the goal for Innisbrook. The school receives 50% on all items sold with
the exception of chocolates, which is 45%.
 Total sales of $18,000 – $19,000 the students will earn crazy hat day.
 Total sales of $19,000 - $20,000 the students will earn pajama day.
 If total sales exceed $20,000 the students will earn an extra recess.
 For cash donations of $49 or less, students will receive a $1 gift certificate to school store.
 Kim LaFrancis and Debbie Etri are working on adding an Innisbrook page to the website.
 Purchased sandwich boards that will display progress towards goal. Boards are available to be
used by other committees.
 Will visit students at lunch Monday to discuss Innisbrook.
 Mrs. Peterson thanked Innisbrook committee for being so organized with the fundraiser.
Directory – Nikki Dawson reported:
 Working with Stephanie Mullany to get directory information from the District.
 Directory will include school store dates and pricing information.



Directory will be available mid-October.
116 directories were ordered last year.
Discussed the opportunity to provide the directory online. Debbie Ruggiero stated that Carolyn
Anders at Glen Crest was investing this as an option and would be a good contact.
 Nikki Dawson asked what the budget was for the directory and Monique Wilharm informed her
that it was supposed to break even.
 The directory will include an alphabetical listing this year.
Head Room Parent – Jen Brzezinski reported:
 Once there is a final list of volunteers, Jen will hold a meeting with Head Room Parents to review
guidelines and procedures.
 Head Room Parents are responsible for communicating with teachers, parents, assigning
volunteers and PBIS.
 Head Room Parents will be assigned in the next few weeks.
 Debbi Etri asked how situations will be handled if two people have sign up as head parent. Jen
will offer first to a person who has not previously been head room parent and will pull from a hat.
Teacher Appreciation Week - Nia Esposito reported:
 Had good amount of volunteers.
 Teachers enjoyed the week, especially the beverage cart.
 Kids do something special for the teachers every day
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – Tracy Conn reported:
 Lots of volunteers have helped.
 Could use some help establishing a final count for the luncheon. Mrs. Peterson will help facilitate
getting a complete count and Jane Duzansky will discuss with District PTC President’s to see
what they do for their luncheons.
Kindergarten Olympic Field Day – Nikki Dawson
 PE teachers were essential in helping the event run smoothly.
 Challenge getting PM volunteers.
 Kids had a great time.
 The binder and all other details will be given to Nia Esposito and Jen Ledet who are co-chairing
the event this school year.
Book Fair – Christine Heim reported:
 Scheduled for October 18, 2013.
 Funds from the book fair go to purchase books for the LMC.
 Park View gets 35% of total sales to purchase books for the LMC. If we sell more than $6500,
the school gets %45 of sales.
 Mrs. Kouwe shops for books in February.
 Asked teachers to hold off on sending scholastic book forms in October.
 Parents can shop October 18, from 2:30 to 3:15.
Ice Cream Social – Monique Wilharm reported on behalf Courtney Erickson:
 Runs from 7-8:30 October 18, with the Book Fair.
 Total of 12 volunteers needed.
 Raffles/Contest – guess your teacher’s favorite ice cream. Drawing will be held Monday, October
21, 2013.
 One ice cream per person.
 Anne Lange asked about adding a Bake Sale to this event. President, Jane Duzansky approved
the addition of the bake sale.

 October 17 – Next PTC Meeting 7:30 p.m.
