Resources
This guide will introduce you to some key resources for finding good quality image, video
and sound resources which have been copyright cleared for non-profit educational purposes.
You should always refer to the copyright information given on each resource for specific
details of how you may use the content.

Jisc Media Hub is a good place to start your
search for audio-visual information:
You can search, view, and download thousands of video,
image and audio resources from many different
collections covering news, documentaries, popular
culture and much more.
New to this resource? Choose to
Explore by subject, collection or time.

Image resources include:
ARTstor, a collection of more than 1 million
images relating to visual arts and culture. You can
save your favourites into folders or create
presentations within the database. You will need to
set up a simple login using your UoP email address
and a password of your choice. This will also enable
you to access the database off campus. After 120
days, you will be required to login on campus. This is
to check that you are still a member of the University
and, therefore, entitled to access it.
Bridgeman Education, a collection of over
500,000 images relating to the visual culture of
every civilization from prehistory to the present.
Search or browse the database by subject.
Save items to a slide show, or print or save as
usual.
Use Advanced Search to
find more relevant results
Browse by
Subjects.
Video resources include:
Box of Broadcasts enables you to record,
watch or listen to free-to-air television and radio
programmes and even make clips from them.
You can save your favourites into a play list
to share with others. A detailed guide to BoB
is available on our web pages.
Select Programme Guide to
record up to 5 programmes
each day.
Screenonline is a guide to Britain’s film and
television history. On campus, you can view
video clips embedded within the text.
Sound resources include:
British Library Sounds includes selected
recordings and music - classical, jazz and popular,
world and traditional; spoken word, including
oral histories, accents and dialects; and sounds
from human and natural environments.
Visit the Study Area to broaden
your musical knowledge.
Naxos Music Library a recorded music database
of more than 1 million tracks from a wide range of genres
including rock and pop, classical, jazz and world music.
