UALIFICATIONS

:

 Full time student standing (minimum 12 hours)

 Active member in good standing of your fraternity

 Ability to attend all events deemed necessary to promote the Council

 GPA Requirement

 Ability to maintain a regular presence in the Greek Life Office, at least three hours per week.

 Timeliness : Pay attention to due dates and be punctual to meetings.

 Communication : If an issue arises, contact someone. Share the good and the bad with Greek Life and the board. We are all here to support you. No one likes surprises. If you’re running late, or cannot make something – communicate!

 Respect : All persons deserve respect from each other. Courtesy and class should be demonstrated in all electronic and verbal communication.

 Honesty : It truly is the best policy. We all make mistakes. You are held to a high standard, and when in doubt, err on the side of truth and ethical behavior.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Serve as the primary liaison to non-profit community organizations and the

Center for Civi c

and Community Engagement.

 Schedule and attend at least two roundtable events per semester.

 Schedule and attend at least two meetings with the IFC Advisor per

 semester.

Collect and report member fraternity community service hours, philanthropic dollars, and activities.

 Oversee the IFC/CPC joint calendar planning agreement and process.

 Hold a semesterly joint roundtable (IFC, CPC, NPHC) with chapter philanthropy and service chairs to discuss best practices, ensure reporting, and discuss upcoming semester calendar.

Plan and implement an IFC-wide service project for the campus at least once per year, but no more than two.

Compile a list of service opportunities and potential philanthropic events to serve as a resource to chapters.

 Compile a list of local businesses that support organizations through profit shares, fundraisers, car washes, and other similar activities and distribute the list to chapters to use as a resource.

 Encourage chapters to collaborate with local partnerships that serve their philanthropic goals in order to increase resources and community participation.

 Develop an annual report of accomplishments and concerns.

 Attend Greek Retreat and SEIFC.

 Hold a position specific roundtable event twice per semester.

 Responsible for the submission of up to two SEIFC/NIC Award applications per semester (Spring, Summer, Fall)

 Undertake and assist in special projects or assignments delegated by the

President

Perform such other executive functions as may be delegated to him by the

President or by other IFC officers

 Complete a full transition binder

 Complete AFLV Binder (TBD)

 Attend a weekly IFC Executive Board Meeting

 Attend all six Freshman Orientation Events (including Eagle After Hours),

Black and Gold Day, Honors Day, Homecoming reception, Founders Day reception, and other events deemed critical to promoting the IFC chapters.

 Developing goals and other duties/responsibilities for this position

G OALS :

Create a philanthropy section for the Inter-Fraternity Council By-laws.

Establish a set Semester based schedule for all IFC philanthropies that will be followed throughout the coming years.

Hold an end of semester, for both fall and spring, meeting to update all of the organization’s Philanthropy chairs about their respective philanthropies.

Organize a Philanthropy event for the IFC that would take place during Greek

Week as well as one outside of Greek Week.

Select and establish loyalty to a charity for the IFC that will later be noted as the

Signature IFC Charity. (Partner with the USM Foundation and choose a “Top

Funding Initiative” for that year.

Create a detailed budget for the needs of the VP of Philanthropy; one that will be concrete throughout the passing of the position unless changes occur to the signature IFC philanthropy that is voted upon during another VP’s term.

On my honor as a person, and a fraternity man at The University of Southern Mississippi,

I pledge that I will uphold the highest standards of ethical behavior during the discharge of my duties as a council officer. The obligation I now take upon is one of fairness to all

IFC chapters, and I shall not use my position for my (or my chapter’s) personal gain.

I understand all of the aforementioned information contained within this agreement, and furthermore agree that should I err in this commitment, my peers or advisor have the wherewithal to remove me from my office.
