ST RICHARD’S HOSPICE SHOPS LIMITED JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Regional Manager Responsible to: Commercial Director Accountable to: Commercial Director Pay Point: 12-14 Hours: 42 hours per week Job Summary The Regional Managers will play a key part in managing and motivating staff and volunteers and ensuring the highest professional standards of presentation and customer service in all aspects of the business. They will provide leadership to our Shop Managers and oversee the management of our shops in a Region (North or South Worcestershire). These roles are integral to the ongoing success and continued growth of St Richard’s Hospice Shops Limited and key objectives will be to maximise regional sales and contribution through execution of the retail business plan. Main Duties and Responsibilities Trading The post holders will work with the Commercial Director to: Prepare and monitor the annual budget for income and expenditure in their Region Seek new opportunities for the growth of the business in line with strategic direction Maximise the profitability of shops by ensuring turnover, gift aid and cost targets are achieved Actively promote the activities of the shops and warehouse in the local area in liaison with the Communications Department They will be responsible to: Visit all shops regularly to ensure that they are being managed effectively and efficiently in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Shops Procedures Manual. Shop visits should be planned in advance and the Commercial Director advised of proposed itinerary Conduct regular audits of each shop to ensure compliance with policies and procedures Maintain awareness of current trends in the field of charity retail and retail in general. Stock Ensure that each shop has sufficient saleable stock and advise Shop Managers on the generation of adequate supplies of donated stock Check that shops are well stocked and that an efficient rotation system is undertaken in accordance with standard procedures Ensure that all stock on display is clean, attractive, saleable and well presented. Ensure compliance with all legal regulations Ensure that incoming stock is effectively sorted and prepared for sale and that stock and sort rooms are properly organised Arrange the transfer of stock where necessary Monitor the stock, display and sales of bought goods in accordance with current procedures Management Work with the Commercial Director and HR Department to ensure that shops have the correct level of trained staff and volunteers Recruit, train and appraise staff in accordance with policies and procedures Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers Maintain appropriate discipline in all shops Monitor and control staff holiday dates to ensure shops are effectively staffed at all times Property Ensure compliance to lease obligations under the direction of the Commercial Director Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation Regularly inspect the interior and exterior of shop premises and advise the Commercial Director of maintenance requirements as appropriate Deal with emergency maintenance and break-ins in line with procedures General Actively promote the work of the Hospice at all times Establish good working relationships and with colleagues in the organisation and outside agencies as appropriate Attend meetings as required, including training which may include overnight stays on occasions Assist or relieve other staff where appropriate Ensure all activities maintain the desired image of St Richard’s Hospice and St Richard’s Hospice Shops Key holding responsibilities for the Shops and availability to be on call additionally at weekends Use IT to produce business letters, reports and analysis of performance Undertake any reasonable requests in the interests of the continued development of the Company or the Hospice.
