JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Function of Job:
To play a part as a member of the retail trading team working closely with your line
manager and colleagues to provide, support and assist volunteers and managers in
our shops and retail distribution centre. To assist in collection and delivery of
furniture and donated items. At all times to work closely with other staff providing
help and support where required and generally promoting the good name of QEF.
Main Duties:

To assist the Transport officer with the collection and delivery of furniture.

To make decisions on what to accept and what not to accept when picking up
donated furniture, to accept legally and properly.

To sign up gift aid from customers who donate furniture.

To assist the shop managers and volunteers by moving furniture and where
required to help with furniture display and reorganisation.

To take supplies to specific shops, this includes post, stationery and fittings.

To move donated stock to and from shops and the retail distribution centre.

To aid in the collection of rubbish and other items to and from the shops and
retail distribution centre.

To implement QEF policy requirements, specifically checking vehicles daily and
weekly.

Where required to carry out minor repairs, eg. replacing light bulbs and
providing appropriate DIY support to both the shops and the retail distribution
centre.
To help maintain the retail distribution centre keeping it clean, tidy and well
organised.


To complete health and safety training.

To carry out other reasonable requests as required by the line manager.
Skills, Experience and other requirements:

A reasonable level of IT experience is required to access email and online
training modules.

Physical effort – the post holder will be required to lift furniture and other
items as a regular part of the job.

You must have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of two years. This
must be presented at application stage.

You must be at least 21 years of age to drive an insured QEF vehicle.

Ideally (but not essential) previous experience of working in a warehouse,
maintenance or driving environment.
Additional note:
The success of our shops operation depends to a large extent on good communication
with all managers. There will be times when instruction from shop managers and
line managers require specific tasks to be achieved in a timely manner. Retail
Trading relies on a high level of support given by our volunteers and it is imperative
that the post holder recognises this contribution and plays their part in providing a
friendly and supportive environment for our volunteers.
