As the weather is getting warmer I wanted
to remind you of my policies regarding the
warm weather. Sun cream will be applied
before going out to play and children will
have to wear their sunhats. I ask that
parents remember to provide sun creams
and a hat in their bags or alternatively you
can leave them with me. I will assess the
conditions at regular intervals if I feel it is
too hot to play outside the children will be
kept inside. I will keep children out of the
midday sun. Fresh drinking water is
available at all times.
Don’t forget there are WOW moment cards
in the door pockets, for you to record your
child’s special moments they don’t have to
be big but something you and your child
would like to celebrate regarding their
achievements.
If you would like to discuss your child’s
development please contact me and we can
arrange a convenient time to discuss your
child’s progress

What have we been up
to?
Over the past few weeks we have been learning
about minibeasts. We have talked about being
gentle when handling minibeasts and the
importance of washing hands afterwards. We have
talked about which are our favourite minibeasts and
why we like them and if we are scared of any and
why they scare us. We have great fun walking out
and about looking for bugs and talking about their
habitats and developing our understanding of the
world around us. We have used our mathematical
knowledge and baked caterpillar bread talking
about time for leaving the bread to rise and cook as
well as quantities. We have counted spots on
ladybirds and talked about spiders. We have had
great fun observing our caterpillars turn into
butterflies.
For those children that are moving to school I have
been supporting the transition developing the skills
they will need for school and preparing them by
talking about a school day and dressing up in
school uniform. I will continue to do this throughout
the holidays.
Following the children’s interests we are starting a new
topic from the 20th July which will be about around the
world. There are ideas how to support your child’s
learning on page 2.
Dates for your diary.
Bank Holiday Monday 31st August
2015.

Preheat oven to 190 C or 375 F
Cream butter or margarine with sugar until light, fluffy and pale in colour. By hand is best but a hand whisk is
fine too!
Beat the eggs and add them bit by bit with spoons of sifted flour. Bit by bit ensures the mixture does not curdle.
Gently fold in an any flour left over when the egg is used up.
Add the vanilla or any other flavourings desired and half fill the paper cases with the mixture and bake for about
15 minutes until risen and firm but not too dark.

Leave the cakes to cool then cut a slice from the top of each cake and cut this in half.

Place some of the butter icing on top of the cake then arrange the 'wings' how you want them.
