Class four’s trip to Norwich castle On Wednesday the 6th of January, Class four from Rackheath Primary School, went to Norwich castle. We were all extremely excited, I was very happy we were going. Mrs Fiddy, and Mrs Newton helped. I learnt lots of new things from our guide Jenni. We took part in a Roman handling session where we managed to feel things that romans felt and made. I found the poo stick very hilarious! We all had the chance to hold the poo stick, which was a replica meaning that it had been remade. We also went in the Boudicca and the romans gallery where there was a chariot ride which everybody liked. I think it was the most popular thing in the gallery, which is cool! In the Iceni area there were over 70 animals which, me, James and Jamie played with and liked. The most popular object in the Roman handling session was the poo stick. In the Egyptian handling session my favourites were the shabti , animal amulet and the scarab beetle. My least favourite was the earing. I quite liked the wood from the coffin, canopic jar, rings, animal amulet and the beaded necklaces they were quite fascinating. Miss Maibaum set a challenge for how many eyes of Horus and scarab beetles we could find in the Egyptian Gallery. I found 14 Eyes of Horus and 56 scarab beetles. There were really fascinating mummies that were over 3500 years old. The most popular item from the Egyption handling session was the shabti. We also went into Norfolk wildlife and Natural History Galleries. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and I would like to go again. I would recommend it to anyone. I am now ready for the Egyptian topic.
