Dear Parents,
It’s that time of year again – to complete your School Learning Environment Survey. If you
did not pick up your survey during Parent Teacher conferences this week, your GREEN
envelope will be sent home with your child. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey as
your opinion matters! Return your completed survey in the sealed envelope, or a copy of your
on-line receipt to your child’s teacher – to receive a homework pass. The first class in each
component (Elementary, Middle and High School) to reach 100% completion will receive an ice
cream (or pizza) party.
Social Emotional Learning is a process by which students acquire knowledge, attitudes, and
skills associated with core areas of social and emotional competency. We continue our Social
Emotional Learning program with our March Character Trait of the Month: Tolerance. Ms.
Attal, Guidance Counselor and classroom teachers will present lessons and learning activities on
the topic. Our Middle School students will continue to make morning announcements which
include challenges for kids and inspirational quotes.
Highlights of the week . . .
Middle School Social Studies teacher Steve Cucuzza and several of his 8th grade students entered
the 2015 New York City History Day Contest. Congratulations to Nicholas Aparo, Sahan
Rajapakse, Eric Schlyonsky, Sean Vayser and Daniel Volshteyn; their Washington Setting the
Precedence won Outstanding Project from Staten Island.
Bravo to our talented teachers (Vinny Bunnicelli, Tom Cintula and Antonio Rodriguez) and
students from our high school Chorus and Jazz Band, who wowed the crowd gathered for Coffee
House Jazz Night last Tuesday. Our thanks to the PTA for organizing the entertaining event.
