Position:
Service Delivery Transition Manager – FTC to July 2017
Location:
Castleford
£(Salary)
circa £40,000 - £45,000 depending upon experience + annual bonus
subject to completion of targets
Position
As an integral part of the IT Transformation programme, you will be responsible for the
transition of IT services under current and evolving framework agreements. Experience of data
Centre relocation activities and transition management skills are an essential part of this role.
Working alongside the IT Transformation Project Manager, you will be delivering a planned
Data Centre relocation via a detailed project plan and will be transferring support services
from one supplier to another whilst minimising business impact.
You will manage business and project risks, including supporting the development of
contingency plans and have a strong eye for detail, able to identify inconsistencies,
assumptions and dependencies to optimise the transition.
With a strong technical background you will be able to easily identify and understand the
requirements for the successful migration of infrastructure, networks and applications.
Key Responsibilities
 Overseeing the Data Centre service transition activities in an existing project plan and
aligned to the overall IT Transformation Project
 Manage the transition of services to a new support model ensuring minimal business
impact and embedding it into Business as Usual practices
 Identifying inconsistencies, assumptions, dependencies and opportunities which may
affect the project deliverables
 Building effective working relationships with new and existing suppliers to establish
credibility thus a successful delivery
 Managing business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans
 Working with the Project Manager and project team to effectively schedule, plan and
prioritise data centre and services transition
Key Competencies






7 years + experience in IT and Service Delivery / Service Transition
Experience of Data Centre relocation activities
ISEB / Prince 2 project management trained, with an ITIL Service Management
accreditation
Experience in managing migration of infrastructure, networks and applications from
one Data Centre to another
able to co-ordinate directly with technical team members, third party team members
and project teams
Credible planning, tracking and reporting techniques
Qualifications & Attributes
Essential Qualifications and Experience







Strong technical background – including the migration of infrastructure, networks and
applications
Experience of service delivery and Data Centre relocation operating in an ITIL
environment
Contingency planning and escalation of risks and issues
Experience in developing relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and suppliers
Meticulous in identifying dependencies, issues, risks and assumptions which may affect
project deliverables
Experience of working in a transition environment or through periods of organisational
change / project delivery where the requirement to work out of office hours may be
required
Ensure effective operations during periods of transition to ensure the business as usual
service remains available during expected times of operation
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
 Resilient and adaptable style, able to operate in a time driven process and manage
effectively with changing priorities and conditions
 Flexible, highly driven, self-starter, who can work effectively as part of a project and
programme team
