CBA Green Team Meeting Tuesday, September 13 3:00pm, Mammel Hall Suite 200 Old Business: Welcome Week Update from Jenna (on behalf of Amy) Thank you for all who helped and participated 75 students participated, 51 students interested in sustainability Winners feature is now up on the CBA Main Page thanks to David Nielsen **For those of you wondering about the other majors, here is the original write-up that was provided: Marketing: 24 participants, average score 5.7 Economics: 12 participants, average score 4.5 Business/Management: 8 participants, average score 6.3 Finance/Banking/Law: 10 participants, average score 5.7 Accounting: 15 participants, average score 5.3 Staff/faculty: 6 participants, average score 6.8 Total: 75 participants, average score= 5.6 Total number who “passed” with a 6+/10 (staff not eligible): 33 (47.8% of students) CBA Sustainability Policy In process- thank you for the aspects/impacts Rick and Jean are working to develop this Durable Dishes - NBDC has these available We will allow them to be checked out Please wash them in the Dean’s office and return them in a timely manner Trash & Recycling measurement and pickup Update from Jenna & Jean Lots of discussion was generated as a result of this topic Edward brought up the option on renting a scale to use We need to determine the feasibility of this option prior to moving forward; HOWEVER, we have spoken a few times with Cynthia Bryant from Deffenbaugh and she is willing to work with us and even come to our meeting to present options that we have for more efficient and measurable recycling. Signs for trash & recycling bins Rick and his team have developed and produced signage Signs are in and going up on every recycling bin in the building Public recycling and trash bins have been re-organized throughout the building so that they are next to one another New Business Next steps for interested students CBA Sustainability club Michael O’Hara has volunteered to be the club’s advisor We will extend the invitation to officers of the club to become a part of the CBA Green Team One suggestion for a sustainability club activity is for them to have a “fill the tires” day where we bring in supplies to fill the tires for students for free (reduces the amount of gas used) Possibly involve students in weighing/sorting trash CBA Environmental aspects and impacts Bubble-up, bubble down process 2 teams ordered the different environmental aspects and impacts according to priority The two lists were combined after input was given from both teams: 1. Curricula inclusion of sustainability 2. Reduce usage of the handicap assist doors 3. Reduce printing 4. TVs and computers going to “sleep” when not in use 5. Increase recycling Others: reduce student smoking near building and on campus in general, close blinds, student parking- allow shuttle buses to pick students up from garages Next meeting: Date and time Wednesday, October 19 at 3:00pm in Mammel Hall Please mark your calendars!
