The Alban Pilgrimage
Provisional Itinerary
Unique to St Albans, this is a must see event. Every year, on
or around St Alban's Feast Day, thousands of people gather in
Verulamium Park to witness the re-enactment of the events
leading up to the death of Britain's first martyr - St Alban.
SATURDAY 21st JUNE
Early departure by private bus to
arrive in St Albans by 10am.
Enjoy the Procession and
Festival Eucharist in the Abbey at 12
noon with the US Presiding Bishop
preaching.
Free time in afternoon plus Festival
Choral Evensong with John Bell (Iona
Community) preaching.
Evening meal in St Albans
Private bus to Redbourn. Stay in
Aubrey’s Park Hotel or with host
families.
The giant, spectacular puppet procession through the city to
the Cathedral includes Roman chariots, 12-foot tall puppets
and hundreds of local children dressed as roses, soldiers,
stained glass windows, angels and monks. Afterwards enjoy a
host of children and family activities all day long.
The combination of celebration, drama and family fun is not to
be missed so come and be part of this magnificent event.

The Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori, previously Bishop of Nevada, is
the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. She is chief pastor to the
Episcopal Church's 1.2 million members in 17 countries and 109 dioceses,
ecumenical officer, and primate, joining leaders of the other 38 Anglican
Provinces in consultation for global good and reconciliation.
John Bell (21st June, Festival Coral Evensong)
John Bell is a hymn-writer, a Church of Scotland minister, he is a member of
the Iona Community, a broadcaster, and former student activist. He works
throughout the world, lecturing in theological colleges in the UK, Canada and
the United States, but is primarily concerned with the renewal of
congregational worship at the grass roots level.
The Reverend Will Gibbs (22nd June, St Mary’s Church, Redbourn)
Reverend Will Gibbs, is vicar of St Mary’s Church in St Alban’s neighbouring
parish, Redbourn. St Mary’s has a thriving and inclusive fellowship of some
300 members from all ages and backgrounds. As a good friend of Joe’s,
Revd. Will Gibbs has offered to help with local accommodation, host early
lunch on Sunday and of course welcome us all at St Mary’s main Parish
Communion service at 9:30am
