King’s St. Alban’s Worcester Junior School Uniform Guide The majority of uniform required must be purchased either from Schooltogs of New Street, Worcester ( 01905 28658) or from the School Second Hand Shop (5, Castle Place next to the Senior School Playground). Schooltogs is open from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm. The Second Hand Shop opening times are advised each term. Schooltogs offers a 10% discount off all uniform purchased during the first two weeks of July (please check directly for dates). Insurance You are strongly advised to insure against All Risks any items of value which are brought to school - musical instruments, sports equipment, wrist watches, mobile ’phones, valuable pens, etc. as the School’s insurance does not cover accidental damage and theft of such items (unless forced entry can be proved). Pupils Personal Accident Insurance Scheme: the School participates in the scheme recommended by the Independent Schools Council and available only through its schools. The Bursary will forward you details of the cover and you are strongly urged to insure through this or a similar scheme. Summer uniform is compulsory during the Summer once the weather is warm and settled – refer to the clothing lists in this pack. Hair should be cut to a reasonable length and in an acceptable style. Jewellery should not be worn, although, if absolutely necessary, earrings are permitted provided they are small, plain studs. Marking of Clothing and Possessions Every item of clothing and all personal possessions should be clearly marked with nametapes or in another appropriate manner. It is important that if clothing is bought from the Swap Shop, the name of the previous owner is removed. Please check regularly to ensure that nametapes are still in place and that the name is visible. Lost property, that is not named, is collected and stored by Matron. Any unclaimed items are displayed at the end of each term and if still unclaimed, become part of the school’s ‘emergency stock’! Shoes and trainers are difficult to mark – please inscribe initials on the inside of the tongue if possible. Toys, personal music systems or computer games should not be brought to school unless Form Teachers have given permission. If children bring data storage media (C.D or USB pen) to school they must have it virus checked before use every time! Additional Necessary Items Dictionary: All pupils will have access to a Dictionary at school and it would be most helpful if they had one at home too. Choose a copy suited to their age that they will find easy to use. If in doubt, bookshops will advise, or contact school. Backpacks and Book Bags: All pupils should have either a Backpack or a Book Bag bought from the School Shop to carry books and individual papers. Books should not be carried in Games bags.
