Introduction
This paper presents a comprehensive Miami Dade police department stake holder
analysis. It focuses on upcoming democratic-republican national convention event. The
stakeholder analysis is based on the nine step model. It gives an easy definition of the
organization that explains its purpose of establishment and existence. It identifies the key
stakeholders to the event. It also defines their concerns and interests. It defines their claim on the
department while prioritizing them. It checks the police department`s position as a law
enforcement agency by presenting an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats. The analysis is crucial in directing and evaluating the activities of the department. It is
also critical for managing the organizational relationships to ensure that quality services are
provided and mutual benefit is realized (Schwalbe 71). It presents information on the
organizational strategy and policy of the department. Finally, it gives recommendations on
actions the department should engage in to ensure that they satisfy the stakeholder needs
appropriately and maintain healthy a mutual relationship

This stakeholder’s analysis is by the Miami Dade police department for the democratic
republican national convention. The stake holders are the groups of people with a distinguished
relationship with the organization in relation to the Democratic Republican National Convention
(Friedman, and Miles 13).The Democratic Republican National Convention is a non-profit
organization that will hold its meetings in Miami County. Miami Dade police department is a
law enforcement organization that is established in the county of Miami. It is its mission and
responsibility is to maintain law and order in the county according to its mandate as assigned
through the law. In specific relation to the convention, the police department is mandated with
safeguarding the citizens and delegates who will attend the meetings. It sole mission during the
organization`s activities is to enhance security during the meetings to protect the members from
any harm and disruptions form any protestors or activists.
Key stakeholders
There are both internal and external stakeholders. The internal stakeholders are directly affected
and they take part in the organizations decision making (Helm, Liehr-Gobbers, and Storck 53). They
include, the organizations leadership, delegates, guests invited to the convention, law
enforcement officers, government agencies such as these ret service and members of the
homeland security, the county leaders such as the Miami mayor and local government officials.
External stake holders are those who do not engage directly with the organization but they have a
relationship with the convention (Helm, Liehr-Gobbers, and Storck 54). They include, media
personnel, area residents and members of the civil society specifically the protestors and the
activists. The stakeholders influence the manner in which the convention conducts its activities.

The stake holders are interested in the success of the convention by achieving the organizational
goals and objectives (Friedman, and Miles 12). A major element that will help the organization to
reach its mark is the smooth running of the activities according the set schedule. The police
department is critical in ensuring this objective is met. The stakeholders expect the police
department to maintain security in the convention and the surrounding areas. It will help to
realize law and order to prevent interruption which may hinder the attainment of the
organizations objective. The police department is not concerned with the proceedings of the
convention; theirs is to maintain a peaceful environment for the proceedings of the convention.
Stakeholders claims on the organization
The role of the police department is to enhance law and order. The role is a right that any
member of the community can claim provided they are acting within the provisions of the law.
The stakeholders of the convention claim security from internal and external threats. They expect
the police department to offer this service with utmost competence. It is a key element in the
success of the organization. The success and responsibility of the police department will be
measured against this claim. The organization is political in nature and there are members of the
public who support it and those who are against its mission. Those who are anti-convention are
likely to protest and disrupt the meetings. It is the responsibility of the police department to keep
the protestors and activists from interfering with the conventions activities.
Prioritizing the stake holders
All stakeholders are equally important to the police department. The police department is
established by the government for the people. It should carry out its mandate with impartiality. It

It should not regard some members of the public more than others. The guiding principle in
providing its services is the law and its service charter.
SWOT analysis
Miami Dade police department thrives on several strengths. First it has an adequate size of
dedicated human resource. Second it has a variety of security enhancing equipments. They
include police cars, motorbikes, bicycles and other devices. These security apparatus will be
effective in enhancing the security of the convention and the surrounding areas. A possible
weakness is lack of experience in handling such political conventions. The convention is likely
to trigger reactions from both supporter and those against it mission. Most of the department
personnel are new in service and they may lack the experience tips on dealing with such a
situation. The department can seize some opportunities through this convention. First, it can use
the media presence to show case the quality of service they provide to the public. It could earn it
recognition from various stakeholders within the convection and even away. It can also request
for more funds for to enhance the activities. The funds could be used for the convention and the
progression of other critical aspect of the police department. The department could also exploit
the presence of other security agencies to learn new tips to enhance the quality of their service.
The possible threat is large number of protestor who may cause violent during the proceedings.
Terrorist’s attacks are also a major threat.
Organization strategy
The department will take a communications approach in enhancing the security of the area. First,
it will conduct awareness campaigns to inform the members of the public on the upcoming

events. It will inform them of the expected behavior and remind them of the consequences of
breaking the law. The department will communicate to all the supporting agencies such as Red
Cross society, hospitals, fire services, ambulance services and other emergence apparatus. The
communication will be crucial in enhancing the readiness of the apparatus. Prior to the
convention, the department will link with other security organizations that have adequate
experience in handling such matter. The organizations will assist in maintaining law and order if
the work is overwhelming for the Miami Dade police department personnel. The organization
should also link with anti-terrorism agencies to enhance security. The organization will explore
its strengths to ensure that they meet their objective and that of the stakeholders.
