Regular Quarterly Meeting -Tuesday April 14, 2015

Chairperson Jim Barnes called the meeting to order at 12:00
Roll call: Roll call was answered by board members Lori Brotherton, Pat Fleshner, Annie
Schrum, Tim Weber, Jim Barnes and Duane Zenk. Sue Bergamo was absent. Others in
attendance: Tracie Miller-City of Denison Admin Asst, Evan Blakley–Executive Director CDC,
Michelle Ertz Tourism Coordinator, Deb Rothmeier with Lincoln Highway Coalition and Roger
Wadrich representing the Crawford County Racers Assn.
Annie Schrum moved to approve the 1-14-15board minutes. Jim Barnes seconded the motion
and all board members voted in favor of the motion.
After review and discussion of the Financial Report, Pat Fleshner moved to approve the report as
emailed, 2nd by Annie Schrum with all voting in favor.
Tourism Coordinator Report Michele Ertz reviewed the report with the board. Annie Schrum
moved to approve the report as emailed, 2nd by Tim Weber with all voting in favor
DISCUSSIONS Deb Rothmeier with the Lincoln Highway Coalition advised the board of two
future events: Deb is working with Michelle (Tourism Coordinator) to schedule/promote some
local events during these events.
In June of 2016 the 100th Anniversary of the Van Buren Sisters transcontinental motorcycle
journey will over night in Denison, they are expecting 100 vintage bike riders.
In June 20-24, 2017 Denison is hosting the Iowa Lincoln Highway Association Conference that
is expecting 300 to 500 participants.
FUNDING REQUESTS
A funding request from the Crawford County Racers Association requesting $8000 to fund and
promote 18 nights of racing at the speedway was reviewed (tabled last meeting). Roger
Waderich representing the racers association was present to answer questions. Duane Zenk
moved to approve the request in the amount of $5,000 which was 2nd by Lori Brotherton with all
voting in favor.
A funding request from the Crawford County Cruisers in the amount of $2,500 for promotion of
the Manilla Madness Bike Ride on May 2, 2015 was reviewed, Pat Fleshner moved to approve
the request in the amount of $2,000, the motion was 2nd by Tim Weber and all board members
were in favor of the motion.
A funding request from the CDC in the amount of $3,000 to promote the July 3rd celebration
was reviewed. Expenses will be reimbursed after June 30 so this request falls in the 15/16 budget
year. Annie Schrum moved to approve the funding , Lori Brotherton 2nd this motion which
carried unanimously.
The next funding request was from the CDC to promote the Interstate Rodeo Association Finals
September 25-27, 2015. The funding request was in the amount of $5,000. After discussion Pat
Fleshner moved to approve the request in the amount of $3,500. Tim Weber 2nd this motion. All
board members were in favor of the motion.

CONSIDERATIONS The board reviewed and discussed copies of bills received from the
Crawford County Quarter Horse Show dating back to 2013.
Citizens Comments: None
With no other considerations, discussions, presentations or citizens comments, Chairperson
Barnes adjourned the meeting at 1:01.
