Term 4 ends on Sunday, 20 December; Term 1 commences
SUNDAY, 31 January and ends on Friday 15 April. Term 1 has Waitangi Day and Easter public holidays, and is
set as follows:
Monday classes – 9 week term at a cost of $108 (no lessons Waitangi Day or Easter Monday)
Tuesday and Thursday classes – 11 week term at a cost of $132
Friday and Sunday classes – 10 week term at a cost of $120 (no lessons on Easter Sunday)
As stated in last term’s newsletter, and as a result of the survey we placed in term 2’s newsletter, next year we
are commencing all our terms on Sundays (as opposed to Mondays), and finishing on Fridays (as opposed to
Sundays).

Our webpage is proving a success, as well as a useful information tool for our customers. Please
remember to refer to our webpage in the first instance for information on term dates/public holidays, lesson pricing,
etc to access this information instantly yourself.

Congratulations to our pirate and Sunday instructor, Erina Wood (now Erina Cherry), who got married
on 14 November to Simon Cherry.

enrolled – everyone who pays for their term 1 lessons in full (prices stated above) by

To automatically be enrolled into this competition, either make full payment via direct

 We now complete our assessments over weeks 5 and 6 of the term.
 The timetable will be out by week 8 for people to peruse and decide whether they wish to secure their
child’s tentative space (or make contact to choose a different day/time).
 To secure the tentative allocated space, the priority booking form and $20 deposit must be received
by the second to last lesson of the term (NB not the last lesson as has previously been the case –
please refer to term dates to decipher when this will be). Alternatively, you can secure your space by
paying the full amount in one single internet banking transaction by week 9 of the term, ie you
cannot internet bank the deposit only.
 If the space was not secured with a deposit/form by the second to last lesson of the term, you will not
receive a confirmed class time on your child’s report (which they receive with their ribbon on the last
lesson of the term), and your space will no longer be held. We will not be contacting people to check
whether they do/do not wish to keep the space – instead the space will be made available to waitlisted
customers/new bookings.
Rollover process...
This process eliminates unnecessary office hours in the holidays chasing families who
did not confirm their space with a deposit to decipher whether they wished to keep their space or not; and will in
turn let us be ready to take new bookings from week 10 of the term. The instructors will receive their confirmed
list of students (whose spaces were secured with deposits) after the second to last lesson of the term, to enable
them to have their reports / confirmations / ribbons ready for the last lesson of the term (taking public holidays into
consideration).
Many children will be moving up a level and we will be programming them in their appropriate classes, and trying
our best to move siblings to ensure the same or similar times are achieved for their lessons. As this is an important
aspect for families and ourselves, please show your consideration by letting us know asap if you do not wish your
child to be automatically rolled over into a class next term. Any week day pre-schoolers turning 5 prior to or during
term 1 will automatically be enrolled into a Sunday space. Please advise if you are unable to attend on a Sunday,
and therefore you will not require the space. Likewise, any Tots enrolled on a Sunday turning 3, will automatically
be enrolled in a pre school class during the week – so please advise if you are unable to attend on a Thursday or
Friday. We thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Congratulations to term 3’s pirates of the term…
Congratulations to the following pirates,
who received the rosette last term: Lucas Wolland (Lynn’s pirate); Logan Black (Melissa’s pirate); Otis
McQueen (Rob’s pirate); and Liam Henderson (Erina’s pirate). Well done kids… you won’t have to
walk the plank just yet!

Congratulations to our graduates…
Congratulations to the following pirates, who have
graduated from Jolly Roger Swim School, and joined the Russell Geange Swim Academy (or
elsewhere): Connor Malcolm, Sam Matusek, Amelia Forest, Archie Schrader, Pippi Cates, and
George Fenwick. We wish these swimmers continued success with their swimming and in their aquatic activities.
Lesson start time… Please ensure your child is ready to swim with their cap and goggles on and waiting
poolside for their lesson. A lot of children seem to be missing the first five minutes of their class – which is
detrimental to their learning in achieving the first goal of the class.
And from all of us at Jolly Roger… Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be your child’s / children’s
swimming lesson provider. Enjoy the remainder of the term, the upcoming festive season and summer. We wish
all our patrons a safe and merry Christmas. Please remember to be vigilant with your children around water, don’t
forget your sunblock and just keep on swimming, keep on swimming, keep on swimming!

Term 4 rollover / Term 1 priority booking:
Term 1 is a 9 week term for Monday enrolments, at a cost of $108; an 11 week term for Tuesday and
Thursday enrolments, at a cost of $132; or a 10 week term for Friday and Sunday enrolments, at a cost
of $120.
We have been assessing the children and programming them into their appropriate term 1 classes. We
will have the tentative timetable available to view at the pool during lessons from week 8. All our current
enrolments automatically retain their space (providing there are no outstanding monies on the account,
ie fees paid in full – including any late payment penalty fees which may have been incurred) and will be
booked into their appropriate class, however, it would greatly assist us in our programming and planning
if you let us know as soon as possible if you do not wish to attend lessons next term. Please place a
tick next to your child’s name on the timetable to indicate to us you wish to retain it asap.
There are now two ways to secure your booking (by making full payment via internet banking, or by
paying a cash/cheque deposit):
(1) Due to many requests to secure the space with internet banking, you have the option to pay via
internet banking if you wish to pay the full amount in one single transaction by the end of
week 9 of the term, ie you cannot pay the $20 deposit via internet banking. This is to ensure we
only have to check banking transactions once per each enrolment/family, and saves office time.
(2) Return the priority customer booking slip (attached) along with a $20 deposit (per child) prior to
the end of week 9 of the term. We ask that all deposits are made in either cash or cheque
(please do not internet bank the deposit), and placed in an envelope with your child’s name
clearly displayed, and posted in our black steel payment box which is secured on the wall in the
foyer with our Jolly Roger logo on it. (Please do not post payments in the green box on the
wall by the light switches, as this is not our payment box – that is the club’s payment box.)

Your child’s tentative class space will be available to view in the foyer from week 8.
A $20 cash or cheque deposit per child is required prior to the second to last lesson of this term if you wish to secure your
tentative space. Alternatively, if you wish to secure your space utilising internet banking, you can secure the space by
paying the full amount in one single transaction by the second to last lesson of the term.
The $20 deposit is non refundable, as this indicates you wish the space to remain yours and, as such, we could be turning
away potential bookings.
The remainder fees are due prior to the first lesson of term 1 (week commencing Sunday, 31 January), and can be internet
banked directly into our account for your convenience: ASB 12-3290-0046464-00, Jolly Roger Swim School. Please note,
Jolly Roger does not send out invoices. It is expected that the payment for the classes will be internet banked prior to the
commencement of the term, or brought along to the first lesson.
A $10 late payment penalty will be added for each child each week the account remains outstanding after the first week of
term 1’s lessons – regardless of whether the child is able to attend the first week (unless prior arrangements were put in
place).
If prior arrangements were put in place for a payment plan, we ask that full payment is received no later than week four of
the term. From that date, and weekly thereafter, outstanding accounts will accrue penalties of $10 per child per week.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you do not wish to attend lessons next term.
If you decide you do not wish for your child to be enrolled next term, we cannot guarantee to be able to offer you a space
when/if you wish to return, as all remaining and unpaid spaces will be given up to waitlisted customers and new bookings.
Although we endeavour to have the same instructor teach all of their classes for the term, sometimes it is necessary to
have classes relieved due to illness or personal reasons. Jolly Roger reserves the right to change the instructor for a class
if such a situation arises.

All pre school children presently enrolled on a Friday will automatically be given a Sunday or weekday slot if
they turn five before or during term 4.

Terms and conditions
The remaining amount of $88 for Monday classes / $112 for Tuesday and Thursday classes or $100 for Friday

ASB account for your convenience:

If you wish to pay via internet banking, and to save incurring late fees, please be aware your payment must be
showing up in our account prior to the first lesson, ie payment should be made three days’ prior to the lesson.
Please note, if paying after the date of the first lesson of the term (even if your child/ren cannot attend the first
lesson), a $10 late payment penalty fee will be added each week to the outstanding fees, for each child, unless
prior arrangements were put in place.
Declaration
I understand a $20 deposit is required by the second to last lesson of the term to secure my child’s space for the
follow term, that this deposit is non refundable, and my child’s space is only confirmed upon full payment (which
is due no later than your lesson day commencing the week of 31 January). I further understand that a late
payment penalty of $10 for each week the payment is overdue will be added to any outstanding fees (for each
child) unless prior arrangements were made.
