Information on the week ahead in Year 6.
Literacy – In Literacy this week, we will be continuing with journalistic writing. Students will
learn how to use direct and indirect speech correctly and put writing into paragraphs.

Numeracy – In Numeracy this week, Mr Heatley and Mr Hutchin will be teaching strategies for
calculating area. Mr Moss and Miss Julies classes will be learning about place value up to one
million. Miss Scally and Mr Ferry will be covering place value and number facts.

Topic – Our topic for the next two weeks is Art. We will be making a collage designed with words
and symbols based on our Geography and History topic – South Africa.

Science – We will be starting our term long study focusing on living organisms (Biology). Looking
at different classification systems and how living organisms interact and co-exist in our
environment. This is an interesting unit as we get an opportunity to look at different types of
adaptations animals make to thrive and survive in different environments and conditions.
