GOALS
Our present goals are to achieve the IMA Gold Award of
Excellence and to continue to increase membership in the
club. We are working with our IMA representative and our
faculty advisor to meet and surpass the requirements to
achieve this award. We plan to set requirements to get more
members involved in ICAA events. We hope that the common
programming with the ASC will help to resolve scheduling
conflicts and thereby increase participation. The Accounting
Association provides a vehicle for motivated students to:
 Form relationships with professionals in the field of
accounting
 business curriculum, and
 Improve the community through service activities.
MISSION
The Ithaca College Accounting Association is available to
provide a forum of high quality programs and activities aimed
at creating a bridge between the college environment and the
real world that promotes professional and personal growth of
members.

IMA
ICAA is a chapter of the IMA, Institute of
Management Accountants. The program’s emphasis is
on the IMA and the promotion of management
accounting and financial management as a profession
and a career while encouraging student chapters to be
creative in providing creative services to their members.
As a student chapter we are striving to achieve the
2009-2010 IMA Award of Excellence. The 2009-2010
Award of Excellence is presented to student chapters
that meet the requirements set by the IMA committee.
There are three levels of achievement: Gold, Silver, and
Bronze. We hope to achieve the Gold award so we can
become a candidate for the Outstanding Student Chapter
Award.
WHY TO BECOME INVOLVED:
1. Networking Opportunities: By becoming a
part of ICAA you are opening yourself up to an
experience that entails making new friends,
socializing with your peers, and meeting
business professionals in a relaxed environment.
2. Lifelong Learning: When attending meetings
of ICAA you will be learning information that
will affect your future. The speakers that come
will be extremely beneficial to your future.
Some of the topics you could learn about are
how to build a resume, how business
professional have risen to the top of their
organizations, ways to help you study for the
CPA, and how to interview for a Big 4 firm.
WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT
With this being my second year on the board, I feel
like I have a very unique perspective. As a part of the
executive board for the 2008-2009 academic year, I
experienced firsthand the strengths and weaknesses of
the club. I learned what worked well, and what did not.
With that experience, I feel like the new executive board
and I can build on our strengths and what worked well,
along with cutting out and changing what did not.
This year, we started our planning months in
advance and because of that have benefited in more
enriching and helpful events. Along with Beta Alpha
Psi, we have planned events for each week. So each
week there will some sort of event to attend. Some
events will be new and different, and some events roll
around annually, but I believe the key is to find a good
balance of programming that students are interested in,
along with events that will help them grow as they
become professionals.
To accomplish our goals, we will need the
dedication and commitment of all officers and members
alike. With each event, ICAA gives its members a
chance to interact and get involved. So please, whether
you’re a freshman or a senior, participate, be active, and
attend as many events as possible.
If you have any suggestions, ideas, or questions
please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail. I look
forward to seeing you all.
Thank you,
Jake Zimmerman ‘10
President
