SUMMER SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The H&S Summer Scholars program provides paid opportunities for H&S students to work directly with a
member of the H&S faculty on a collaborative project (research, scholarship, or creative work). Please

Description of the project – please answer all three questions (limit to 250 words)
a) What is the overall scope of the project, and the question or problem it seeks to address? Include here a
discussion of the methodology or approach you will use in carrying out this project, and the nature of the
collaboration between you and your Faculty Mentor.
b) What in your background/training has prepared you to carry out and succeed in this project? Be specific.
c) What will the final “deliverable” of your project be (e.g., an art work, a poster presentation, a manuscript, a
syllabus for a course, etc.)? (Note: The product/deliverable of your project does not have to be complete by the end
of the summer program.)
Explain how this project fits with your academic and/or career goals. Note: in this section, please focus
your answer on what you expect to learn by participating full-time in a research/scholarly/creative project,
rather than on the content of the project or its specific results. Please also describe how you will bring the
results/outcome of this project to a disciplinary or local community beyond the purview of your faculty mentor.
