Ithaca College Department of Physical Therapy Application for Internal Transfer ______________________________________________________________________________ WELCOME The Department of Physical Therapy welcomes your application for internal transfer. Internal transfers may apply to transfer into the program starting as early as the fall semester of the sophomore year and up to the spring semester of the junior year. DEADLINE - For entrance for Fall semester, the deadline is May 1st. - For entrance for Spring semester, the deadline is December 1st. TRANSFER CRITERIA 1. A minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.00, with a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.00 in all natural science courses. Please note that most successful applicants have a cumulative and natural science GPA of a 3.20 or higher. 2. Completion of 40 hours of observation, volunteer work, or paid employment in a physical therapy setting. These hours may be accumulated in multiple facilities. Documentation of the hours is required by submission of the Clinical Observation Form. 3. Three letters of recommendation, at least one from a physical therapist and one from an Ithaca College faculty member. References from family members and family friends are not acceptable. Letters of recommendation can be sent directly to the transfer coordinator, or provided in a sealed envelope with the application material. 4. Official transcripts from colleges and universities attended other than Ithaca College. There is no need to provide transcripts from Ithaca College. 5. Completion of application. Applications must be typed. Incomplete applications cannot be reviewed. Hard copies must be submitted to the Transfer Coordinator for consideration. 6. For non-native speakers of English, a TOEFL score of 550. REAPPLICATION If you are not accepted into the program, you may re-apply. To re-apply, you must send an email to the transfer coordinator by the deadline noted above stating that you would like the application materials reactivated. You must re-submit the first page of the application. You are also welcome to include any additional information to the application prior to the application deadline. Guidelines: Essays must be typed and double spaced. Competitive essays demonstrate an awareness of the field and are usually a maximum of three pages in length. Please complete the essay on a separate page and attach with completed application. Question: Describe and interpret your experiences with people who are socioeconomically disadvantaged, members of minority groups (race, ethnic, cultural, religious), in age groups different from your own, and others different from yourself.
