As Readers we will read information books about Ancient Greece and the Olympic Games. We will read and study Ancient Greek myths. As Writers we will write information texts, stories and reports about the Ancient Greeks and the Olympic Games. Big Ideas As Mathematicians we will continue to develop our maths skills through Maths Makes Sense. As Scientists we will be learning about the human body. We will be looking at different muscles and organs and explaining how they work. We will learn about the digestive system, different types of teeth and the importance of a healthy diet. Fur the r Op por tun itie s As Geographers we will locate Greece on a map. We will look at famous mountains and volcanoes in and around Greece. We will study the principle features of Greece (where the Olympics began) and Brazil (the host country of the 2016 Olympic Games). We will describe the features of both Greece and Brazil. Readers Fabulous Finish Mini class Olympic Games and Greece Day. As Historians we will find out about the Ancient Greeks, we will describe their achievements, society and everyday life. We will learn about how the Ancient Greeks have influenced the western world. We will learn about the history of the Olympic Games and look at famous athletes through time. As Artists we will create Ancient Greek sculptures. As Designers we will design our own Olympic Game medals. We will create Greek paintings. We will make Greek food. As Linguists we will develop our French skills. As Sports stars we will be playing sports from the Olympic Games. We will also have our own mini Olympic Games during our Greek Day. In PSHE we will be looking at the importance of the Olympic Games and how the games represent peace and friendship between nations. We will be learning about the importance of having an active and healthy lifestyle. We will read stories about Ancient Greeks. We will read newspaper reports about famous Olympians. We will talk about the importance of the Olympic Games and how it brings communities together and portrays international peace and friendship.
