1. Year of Mercy
Pope Francis and Bishop Bill invite you to the Opening of the Year of Mercy
and the launch of 150 year celebrations of the diocese on Sunday 13
December. Liturgy at 4pm, beginning at Victor Peters Suite (near
cathedral), food and entertainment, and the sacrament of penance will
be available ‘al fresco’. See www.mn.catholic.org.au
2. Faces – DPC Regional Gathering
The Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) will be holding a Regional
Gathering which will encompass Blackbutt North, Blackbutt South,
MacKillop and East Lakes parishes on Saturday 28 November at St
James’ Primary School Hall, Vista Pde, Kotara South from 8.30am for
9.00am start.
The gathering will be an opportunity for conversations and information
sharing about the regions. All are welcome to attend.

Vigil for Fazel will be held on Friday 20 November at 4:00 PM at Hamilton Clocktower.
Fazel is a victim of the punitive detention regime that cares nothing for the human rights
of asylum seekers and refugees. Join us to remember Fazel and to demand that all
asylum seekers and refugees are freed from detention so there are no more needless
deaths.
Prayer for Deceased Clergy will be held on Friday 27 November at 6:00 PM at Sandgate
Cemetery Chapel.
ALL Kids OUT of Detention will be held on Saturday 28 November at 5:30 PM at Railway
Sheds, Newcastle Foreshore Park. Bring toys, banners, songs and food to share, barbecue
available. We'll get together and work out what we can do to reach kids in offshore

Christmas in Word and Song will be held on Thursday 17 December at 7:00 PM at Corpus
Christi Church, Platt St, Waratah.
Carols in the Cloisters will be held on Sunday 20 December from 6:30 PM at St Joseph’s
Convent Chapel, New England Highway, Lochinvar. Enjoy carols, reflect on the meaning
of Christmas, enjoy refreshments and good company.
The Tenison Woods Education Centre and Diocesan Liturgy Council invite you to a Holy
Triduum Formation Day on Saturday 13 February. This day will help parishes prepare for
the 2016 Easter ceremonies. There will be some input reflecting on the meaning and
nature of the Easter Triduum, discussion of current issues, workshops and time for parish
teams to prepare their Easter liturgy. The day would suit anyone who participates in Easter
ceremonies; clergy, liturgy and RCIA teams, liturgical ministers, RECs and Campus Ministry

A Year of Mercy Event will be held on Saturday 27 February at Tenison Woods Education
Centre, St Joseph's Convent, Lochinvar. The Tenison Woods Education Centre presents a
