Parent Partnership Meeting: Tuesday 27th January 2015 Attended by: J Helyar, L Thompson, J Sanderson, L Caddy B Ridgeway, M McGrath, J Lane & I Finerty. Apologies: P. Kelly Absent: A Hassan & E Deng. 1) JH opened meeting by welcoming parents and thanking them for coming. 2) Parents were asked about their feelings on the possibility of the school investing in an outdoor TV monitor. The general feeling was that such a heafty investment of school funds would not be in the school’s best interest. Plus, they have seen them in other schools and although well used initially, they quickly become dormant. 3) Parents were asked if they had any issues they would like to raise: i) Positive feedback was given regarding recent Workshops, however interest was shown in having morning workshops and to vary the day. ii) Parents asked include handouts from workshops on the school website. iii) Parents felt that children in Year 5 and Year 6 classes, children could be made more responsible for having PE kits and school ties. Parents felt that a consequence from school would help support parents in promoting responsibility for the older children (e.g. a missed playtime). iv) Parents asked if it would be possible to have display boards in the playground to remind both parents and children of weekly activities. v) The new levelling system was mentioned and concern was shown about taking on the new Numeracy assessment system when parents had just gotten to grips with the old levelling system. Parents informed that this is the Government removing levels and UJS have robust methods of monitoring every child. vi) It was noted that Y3 reading books were rather boring, outdated and tatty. Perhaps school funds mentioned above could be used to purchase new and more interesting books. JH mentioned that perhaps PTA money could go towards new Year 3 reading schemes. AOB: i) ii) JH asked parents if they would be happy with a meeting three times a year, with the understanding that, if there was a need, to call an earlier meeting. All parents agreed. Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday May 12th 2015. (Minutes taken and recorded by LT)
