TIME TO DANCE ANNUAL RECITAL PACKET
RECITAL SATURDAY, JUNE 21st, 2014

MANDATORY REHEARSALS:
ACT ONE Monday, June 16th, 2014
ACT TWO Tuesday, June 17th, 2014
**Rehearsals begin at 4:30pm and runs until about 8:30pm. These rehearsals are full costume,
tights, accessories and makeup!! This way if there are any mishaps or makeup/hair issues, we can
address them at rehearsal.
We will begin with Finale’ so once you have finished your last dance you may leave.
**Please dress all dancers at the theatre, no one to arrive in costume!!
We do not want any costumes getting ruined because the dancers had them on and
were running, fell and now the costume may be ripped, stained, etc. Especially the
tights!!
**Please be sure to have someone there the entire time with your dancer. We cannot
watch students during dress rehearsal!! We are setting lights, music, props and fixing
whatever may need to be fixed; we will not be responsible for your dancer during this
time!! It is impossible to think that we can tell you when someone has left unless they
were leaving at the same time as I did.
Please realize and be prepared for a long evening at dress rehearsal. We are setting
lights and sound for the show and it doesn’t always go as quickly as we would like. But,
it makes for a good and smooth running show. I appreciate all the cooperation you can
give me and the staff on this. There is no one allowed in the backstage area with the
exception of my staff and the designated parents for each class! And I do mean no one
else! All those working backstage and with their child’s class need to be in a recital tshirt (be sure to purchase one, form at back of packet).
There are also no tap shoes in the hallways!! Besides the noise and scratching of the
floors in is quite dangerous for the dancers; so please no tap shoes except backstage
and on stage!
Students are allowed in the audience as long as they have their costumes covered
(robe, oversized tee,etc.). There is to be no one in a costume in the audience or during
intermission in the halls!! Please do not let your dancer eat or drink without their
costume being completely covered!!
There will be food and drink to purchase only at the recital, there is however no food or drink
allowed in the theatre.
RECITAL DAY Saturday, JUNE 21st, 2014
**Recital will begin at 6:00pm!! The show usually runs 2 1/2 hours.
**Dancers need to be dressed and ready to go no later than 5:00pm!!
**please dress all dancers at the theatre. No one is to arrive in costume!!!
House doors will open at 5:30 for the general audience. If you have someone who needs assistance,
please let us know and we will get them in 5 minutes prior to general audience. There is no blocking off
seats/saving seats with coats and such.
Same rules as dress rehearsal apply with no tap shoes in the halls and costumes being
covered to go into halls and audience.
There is no fee for our dancers to watch the show; they just need to be back stage 6
numbers before their own. Back stage parents are not to be hunting for you!!
RECITAL MAKEUP
Recital makeup is basically heavy street makeup. Foundation is a must!! The stage
lights will wash the dancers face out and make them look like ghosts on stage. This is
why we do full makeup at dress rehearsal; so you can add or lessen the makeup for
recital. All boys are to wear a clear lip balm only!! Girls brown eye shadow only!
Makeup demonstrations at the studio will be held on Monday, June 9th at 6pm and on
Thursday, June 12th at 6pm. Please bring with you brown eye shadow, black eyeliner, mascara, white
eye liner pencil, a rose colored blush, and a red lip stick. Also we will do hair at this so bring a hair net,
bun pins, brush, comb, black or brown hair band ( which ever matched your dancers hair color) and
hairspray.
HAIR FOR RECITAL
All dancers are to have their hair in a low bun! No parts in the front and no bangs
allowed. Please pin all hair back. Above is two days where we will be going over how to
do their hair. There is some times where a hair change has been approved by me from
a teacher, but unless you are told different they are in a bun; with a hair net only!! There
is no bun covers, glitter spray, or sparkly clips. Everyone is to be uniformed! It gives the
students a much more clean and professional look.
All dancers have received rhinestone earrings which they must wear; blame it on Miss
Susan if you are having a hard time getting them on. We can put them on backstage
right before they go out and remove directly after if there is such a big issue. They are
all hypo-allergenic and sterling silver coated. I know many have sensitive ears so I
bought the best ones I could find for the children without costing a ton!! If you lose or
forget your earrings you will be charged $10 for a new pair!
DRESSING ROOMS
A large majority of the children will be changing in the cafeteria; which is directly across
from the stage. The two dressing rooms are reserved for the older dancers who have
many costume changes. Gentlemen, we will have another room opened just for you.
There is to be NO men or boys in the girls dressing areas for
any reason!! This is not acceptable and will not be tolerated;
I am sure you will all agree!
I suggest totes, laundry baskets for recital and hanging racks if you have several
numbers. My kids are great at this, take off one costume throw it in the basket and put
the next one on. We usually come home with everything!! I put it right under their
hanging rack so they know exactly where it goes and then at the end close the tote and
off you go!! I usually rehang and double check, but you could just go after recital!
We will be doing an order for Dream Duffels. For those interested please see the form
on the back of this packet.
COSTUME PICK UP
All parents/guardians watch for costumer date to be announced. You will receive your
child’s recital t-shirt, costumes, tights and any accessories at that time. Please be advised that if you have
a past due balance this must be paid in full to pick up your dancers costume. Also, costumes come kind
of generic. There may be some alterations needed. I do my best when ordering and sometimes things
may need to be taken in a little, plus we order them so early that we order a little larger in case they grow
on us and they usually do. We will have them adjusted for you and hope to have them altered before
pickup day-if they are not finished in time we will notify you. Hopefully things are in pretty good shape!
***Competition team will receive theirs prior to the rest of the studio due to the competition schedule,
payments apply the same as above.
COSTUME WEEK
Costume week for all the students will be the week of June 9th, 2014. All students are to bring
their costumes and all the accessories to class during costume week. We will be rehearsing in them and
hopefully catching any problems early to have them fixed before next week’s recital.
PHOTOS
Photos-- I will send out a schedule later!
Photos of all the classes will be taken here at the studio by Encore Photography. Photos
are a mandatory thing for everyone, even if you are not planning to purchase any.
Everyone loves to get the whole group in their photo so I have to make this mandatory.
Also, there is no other picture taking while Encore is photographing. This is completely
rude and unacceptable! If you want photos like that get them at home in their costumes
or at recital/ rehearsals back stage!
DVDS
Once again this year every family will be receiving a Free DVD of recital. There is NO
videoing during recital and getting in way of the videographer that is videoing for us for
your DVD! You are more than welcome to video and take photos during dress
rehearsal! I actually encourage you to do it then. We usually run things a couple times
so you have double the opportunity. There is NO flash Photography during recital either.
Plus then you can sit and relax during recital and enjoy!
If you need extra DVD copies they will be available for purchase for $30-let us know and
we will get you an order form. They will also be available at recital if needed.
LIVE SHOT PHOTOGRAPHY
We have started a tradition of taking Live Shots at Dress Rehearsal and posting at the
studio dress rehearsal and recital. We even print them for you or you can get a disc with
all your dancer/family on it to print yourself! Forms will be available at the studio
rehearsal and at recital along with a copy of photos if you are interested in purchasing
any. We do it very reasonable and there are some great shots!
TICKETS
Just a reminder, you receive 4 FREE tickets per family to the recital. If you need more you
may purchase them beginning June 12th, at the studio. They are $12 if you get them prior to June 15th!
After that they will be available at the door only for $13. You may also pre-purchase a larger amount of
tickets called our Recital Packet by 6/1/14 and get 10 tickets for only $100! See the order form section for
this!!
VOLUNTEER SHEETS
PARENT CLASS VOLUNTEER
I need one parent per class to take their child’s class to and from backstage. You are
responsible to make sure you have all the students, they have all their costumes on
correctly, with correct accessories and that they are backstage on time. You will be the
only parent allowed in the backstage area and will need to get a recital t-shirt. You are
not responsible to dress them, do hair and makeup. The children’s parents are
responsible for all that and to have them back to you 6 numbers prior to their number on
stage. You need to have them back there 4 numbers prior to their number and check in
with the back stage crew. The first person so give me the volunteer sheet will be
designated back stage parent

Tickets purchased prior to June 12th will be reduced by one dollar as opposed to the
