jazz and tap, white ballet shoes (girls), black ballet shoes (boys), black tap shoes
and black jazz shoes. Black dance shorts, black skirts, black dance sweaters
may be worn during jazz and tap.
Withdrawl: No student is under any contract for a certain amount of time. With
dancers under the age of 4 yrs. we do understand that this can be an adjustment
for them. We ask that with younger dancers you give them 4-8 weeks to get
comfortable before deciding to withdraw from classes. We do point out that this
is an agreement that you will continue to finish the season. Any interruptions into
a class at anytime, can disrupt the other dancers. At anytime if you wish to
withdraw your child from the program, we ask that you put it in writing two weeks
before your withdraw period.
Parents: No parent is allowed to wait in the studio. This is a distraction to the
dancers and the instructor, especially for younger dancers. There are areas to
wait for your dancer. Days are put into the studio calendar for parents to observe
the classes (November and February). These days are always the first week of
the month. At this time you will be allowed to take pictures, video tape and bring
relatives.
Studio Closings/Bad Weather: Danceworks observes the following
holiday/seasonal break periods: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas eve,
Christmas Day, New Years eve, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day,
Easter, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Fourth of July. Danceworks follows the
School District for closings due to breaks and weather closings. If all after school
activities are cancelled the studio will be closed. All closings are at the discretion
of the director. We make sure that the safety of our students come first. To
double check if the studio is closed their will be a message on the voice machine
at the studio 302-286-1492. Notifications and statuses are updated on Facebook
and the website. You should also get an email or phone call if time allows from
either your instructor or the director (Ms. Amanda). Any cancellations made due
to weather are not required to be made up.
Recital Fee: A non-refundable recital fee is assessed for each student for the
spring recital. The balance of the recital fee is due by May 1st and can be paid in
installments before the due date. The fee is placed onto your account at the
beginning of the season. This fee pays for: parent recital tickets, insurance for
each child, recital facility for recital and tech, recital souvenir, dancer and parent
banquet tickets, awards for each child.
Recital: Each year the instructors create a theme for our annual spring recital.
Dances and costumes are then built around the theme. This is the time that your
child will be able to display what she/he has learned throughout the year. It is not
required but deeply encouraged to participate in the annual recital. The recital is
always performed in June at the end of the dance season. Along with the recital
comes rehearsals. In addition to your dancers normal weekly classes in June,
dress rehearsals are held. We ask that you invite everyone that you know or
maybe ever met to the year end show. Tickets for the show go on sale Monday
after Spring Break. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
Costumes: Each class is given a costume that is selected by the instructor to fit
the theme of their dance. Measurements for costumes are taken by the
instructor during class time in the beginning of October. Costumes payments are
due 3rd week in November. All costumes are $65 ea. (ex. Ballet, Tap, Jazz=3
costumes for $195). We ask that you start paying for costumes immediately.
1.
We request that students carefully observe our dress code outlined in this

class. For your safety and to receive full benefit from your class, please
arrange for a make-up class if you expect to be very late.

reasons including bathroom or behavior issues. Please do not leave the
waiting room when very young children are in class without informing the
office or having another parent responsible during your absence. We
make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving
and inspiring learning environment.

School age children and teens: please practice respect. Students are not
to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other
students. Please come early or stay late to enjoy friends in the waiting
area. Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full
attention and co-operation. You will be advised if we feel any student is
not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.

cannot participate, the instructor will send them to the office were the
parents will be notified if not on the premises.
