A vacancy has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic HE lecturer to teach on the HE

Business/Management programmes, including Masters level, to take on programme responsibilities and be involved in curriculum development. We are looking for someone who is able to motivate and manage students in an HE and FE environment and bring relevance, application, enterprise and experience to teaching and learning, together with good organisational skills.

We would be pleased to hear from applicants with suitable skills, industry experience and relevant qualifications including a Business Management or related degree and a

Master’s degree in a relevant subject area, supported by a solid background of professional development. Experience of teaching HE and supporting dissertation work is also essential to the role. A formal teaching qualification is desirable, but this could be obtained in post.

The suitable candidate must have relevant qualifications and have industry experience. They should have an ability to motivate and manage students in an HE in FE environment. We are looking for applicants who are able to bring relevance, application, enterprise and experience to teaching and learning, together with good organisational skills. It is essential that the successful candidate is able to promote high standards and best practice in teaching and learning.

Job Title: Lecturer in HE Business and Management

Reports to: Head of Higher Education Computing and Management

Overall Responsibilities

Lecturer Band 2: Points 30-37

To teach Business, Management and associated subjects and to undertake course responsibilities and curriculum development duties within an identified area.

Main Duties

Comprehensive teaching responsibilities in higher education (designing schemes of work, assessing, preparation, delivery, marking, student interviewing/guidance and individual student tutoring).

To take on course responsibilities, for example pathway leader, year tutor and to prepare and analyse data, set and monitor targets and maintain quality aspects of the programme.

To counsel and guide students in respect of their academic progress and, as appropriate, their pastoral concerns and needs and making referrals to specialist services as appropriate; contributing to student reports and references as required.

To call, attend and contribute to team meetings as appropriate. To contribute to the work of subject and programme teams, committees and boards, as appropriate.

To undertake curriculum development and respond to changing market demands.

 To actively promote the college’s programmes, attend open events, applicants events, careers events and similar marketing and publicity activities.

To maintain and extend links with external organisations as appropriate.

 To participate in the College’s performance and development review scheme.

To develop and update personal professional expertise in the relevant subject areas.

 To promote Safeguarding and apply the College’s Health and Safety policy.

To work to promote an d apply the College’s Equality and Diversity policy and practices.
