NO. R-273. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE
COLCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL LAKERS GIRLS NORDIC SKI TEAM
2000 STATE CHAMPIONS.

Offered by: Representatives Dakin of Colchester, Schaefer of Colchester,
Severance of Colchester and Vinton of Colchester.
Whereas, Nordic skiing is a sport that requires physical endurance, speed
and the agility to traverse challenging terrain, often during very frigid
meteorological conditions, and
Whereas, the Colchester Lakers Girls Nordic ski team traversed the snowy
paths with great mastery of the sport, and
Whereas, as a result of the team’s superb performance during the regular
competitive season, during which it finished in first place at three out of five
reported meets, it was well prepared for the state championship meet, and
Whereas, at the first heat of the state championship held at Prospect
Mountain, the girl Lakers finished in first place, and
Whereas, at the concluding day of championship competition held at the
Ethan Allen Nordic Ski Center, the Lady Lakers deservedly triumphed as state
champions, and
Whereas, co-captains Jordan Burke, Erika Forka, and teammates Nicole
Crowley, Erin Mallory, Miranda Ugalde and Anila Lawrence, are to be
applauded for an outstanding and thrilling season of superb Nordic skiing, and
Whereas, Head Coach Leigh Mallory and his able Assistant Coach Zach
Kramer are also to be commended for their teaching and leadership skill in
guiding these fine athletes to the state championship, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is pleased to congratulate the Colchester High
School Lakers Girls Nordic ski team 2000 state championship, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this
resolution to Coach Leigh Mallory at Colchester High School.
