Unit 9 – The Modern Era
Even though you didn’t buy books 5 and 6 for this course, we’ve been using them
to build the fourth quarter’s content. You can still use the resources available
online to help get ready for the test. Our Unit 9 covered parts of chapters 29
through 33. Here’s the link to the text book’s website.

Multiple Choice
The multiple choice section will have 40 questions. On the back is a list of terms,
people, and authors that you should know for the test. All of the PowerPoints are
up on SharePoint if you’d like to review any of the course material.
While only author’s names are listed, literature questions will cover the author,
his works, plot, characters, style, symbolism, and historical importance. Sixty
percent of the multiple choice questions are drawn from the literature.
Short Answer
In addition to the multiple choice questions, there will be three quotes from texts
we studied. You will need to identify both title and author as well as discuss
significance. The written portion will also have three short answer questions.
You must answer five out of the six questions. If you answer all of them, your
lowest score will be dropped. The questions will cover the following:
 How art responded to the Industrial Revolution
 How art responded to the invention of photography
 How directors use mise-en-scene to establish character personality
