In Spanish 4 students will be expected to use Spanish to communicate during class. Use Spanish
to do all class business. The class will work as a team to achieve a feeling of “immersion” in
the Spanish language. We will have grammar quizzes, verb quizzes, vocabulary quizzes and
speaking quizzes as well. If you participate fully each day, these speaking quizzes should not
pose a threat. You will get out what you put into the class! 
10% Homework/ Class work/Speaking in class
Includes homework assignments, memorizing vocabulary lists, journal writings, in-class activities
and classroom speaking. You will be expected to use NEW (and old) vocabulary and structures as
a part of your quality participation in class. Expect homework at least 4 nights a week.


All homework is due the next class period before class begins.
Students who turn in homework on time will receive credit/ working on homework after I
collect it results in a zero.
We will review some past concepts in class, but reviewing on your own on a regular basis
will make a BIG difference in remembering material and will help you for future tests or
assessments. A good place to go is studyspanish.com or phschool.com.

A Note about Translators
The use of computer/electronic translators is not permitted. Although native speakers are a great
resource for conversational practice, having native speakers do your work for you is not permitted
either! The purpose of assessments, is to assess what you know, not what a translator or a native
speaker knows! Misuse of online translators will result in a zero for the assignment.
Absence Policy
It is your responsibility to obtain all material discussed and presented in class at the time of your
absence.

Upon your return, obtain worksheets from the Español 4 file on the back table before class
begins. Copy notes from a classmate if needed. Homework is due the day after you
receive the assignment. If homework is late, no credit will be given. If you miss a scheduled
test day, plan to take the test upon your return.
Seminar
Seminar is a wonderful opportunity to catch up when you have been absent or need additional
help. Remember that seminar is your responsibility to use wisely…I will not “hunt you down” in
order for you to make up a test, etc. Please keep all graded work for your records!
We are going to have a great year and I am looking forward to practicing Spanish with you!
