MINUTES
The Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 10 May 2012 were proposed by
Peter Denyer, seconded by Joan Stocker and approved by the committee.
3.
MATTERS ARISING
(a) Claim against Momentum Coach Hire. The coach provided by Momentum for
the Olympic Park outing was unfit for purpose. The coach had defective and misted
double glazed side windows resulting in poor visibility for the passengers and also
lacked the microphone ordered. Our ongoing dispute with them for compensation
resulted in a court action. The court did not accept our claim relating to the windows
due to lack of photographic evidence. However, we were awarded a total of £555.
This sum included the extra £200 fee charged by the blue badge guide due to lack of
microphone, £180 court fees and the return of £175 demanded by Momentum the
evening prior to the outing. The amount awarded was paid by Momentum and
returned to the computer club funds. A vote of thanks was given to Sarah for all her
hard work in dealing with this matter.

REPORT ON THE OPERATION OF THE CLUB OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS
AND PROPOSALS FOR THE FUTURE
(a) Wednesday beginner’s classes. The attendance at each class is very good
but does fluctuate sometimes due to holidays. Linda Tippelt is a tremendous help in
both assisting and leading classes. Peter Denyer is also very helpful to the group in,
setting up equipment for classes and offering tuition when needed.
(b) Thursday beginner’s classes. are run slightly differently and are more
structured. The tuition provided by Gill Futcher, of the WEA has proved very
successful with attendance being very good.
(c) Computer Club Evenings. The present format has not been very successful
and more structured classes have been suggested in the form of set courses on
evenings for perhaps 4 or 5 weeks covering individual topics e.g Genealogy. It was
also suggested that these evenings might not be held on Wednesdays. A genealogy
course of 5 weeks has been proposed for Mondays of the 14th and 21st October and
4th, 11th and 18th November 2013. The course will be led by Lorraine Spindler, who is
a genealogist and curator of Leatherhead Museum. The price of the set course of 5
weeks is £32.50 for members. Non members are invited to participate for an
additional £5 membership fee. Interested persons may contact George Nixon.

TREASURER’S REPORT & PRESENTATION OF ACCOUNTS

Adrienne LLloyd Williams, seconded by Tessa Bridges and approved by the meeting.
Balance at Bank as at 31st March was £3,077.31.
6.
FEE PROPOSALS FOR THE COMING YEAR
It was agreed that membership and class fees will remain the same. An increase at
present was not necessary as all Club expenditure is covered.
7.
OUTINGS 2012 and 2013
Outing to Winchester Cathedral 2012. The proposed outing was cancelled due to
lack of support.
Outing to Greenwich Park 2013. Sarah is again organising this year’s outing. The
date of the outing has been proposed for Wednesday 14th August at a cost per person
of £28 to include coach and lunch. A “Big Ticket” covering entry to many attractions
is available at an extra cost £13 per person to include the Cutty Sark, etc and is to be
