1 Can you tell us about the health services you offer?
1.1 What problems do you face in offering these services?
1.2 Do you have a monthly activity report/health information report? If yes, can you show it to
us?
1.3 Discuss catchment population, and check expected versus actual coverage of essential
services such as Deliveries, Immunizations, Family Planning, ANC, HIV etc
1.4 Drill down on possibly explanatory factors which explain according to the in-charge the
difficulties she faces in reaching adequate coverage? - demand side and supply side factors - Q:
can you elaborate on the issues you face in achieving coverage for these services?
1.5 Canyou explain to us the referral system? How do you get a seriously ill patient into a
hospital?
2 Can you tell us how the drug supply is organized? (whether Bamamako-type revolving fund
initiative, or central supply of free drugs)
2.1.1 What is your opinion on this system? (level of functioning)
2.1.2 What fees do you charge for your drugs, can you show us the price list? Is this price list
clear for clients? Are there exemption categories? if yes, how do they assess the eligibility?
2.1.3 Are there stock-outs of drugs, if yes, elaborate, and indicate frequency, certain types of
drugs, are you able to buy drugs in case of stock outs, if yes where etc drill down
2.1.4 How do you manage the drug-supply, explain the information system, can you show us the
records and registers you use?
3 Can you tell us how many staff work in your facility, and which types? - drill down
3.1 List the types of staff, with their average take home salary - including all cash allowances
after taxes per month
3.2 Are these salaries paid regularly?
3.3 Are there any contract workers, same information as above
3.4 What is your opinion on the salary levels? Drill down- ask further.
3.5 When difficult: (a) what are the biggest expenses/what are the average cost of livings? and
(b) how do you make ends meet?
