The second element to who I am is sports. I’ve done sports all my life. I didn’t always do competitive sports but I was always doing something active. When I was
A toddler I would play soccer with my family, then when I was seven I joined my very first competitive sport, softball. I only did it for a summer, but it still brought a lot of memories. Then I joined gymnastics. I ended up loving gymnastics and I did it for four years until there weren’t any more levels I could be a part of.
That following summer I joined a recreational basketball team, I mainly did it because my dad is a big fan of basketball and he was helping me out so I decided to give it a try. I didn’t end up liking it very much so I didn’t continue the following summer. I didn’t join any more team sports for a while until I was in seventh grade. At the end of sixth grade I tried out for drill team. It wasn’t really by choice but more for my best friend Aria. She dragged me into trying out and reluctantly I did.
I owe a lot of my sports career to Aria because she pushed me to try out new things, without her push I wouldn’t of done many of the things I do today. I ended up making it into drill team and that began my new journey. I did drill team all through seventh grade and I tried out again that year. During the summer I got the news the my best friends had been chosen as team captains. I was so happy for them. Having them as captains was interesting.
They were great captains and I was considered an honorary captain. Since I was with them most of the time, I usually knew most of their plans before everyone else. Then during TOC came a huge step in my drill team life. The day of TOC after we had preformed
I was with Mrs. Hiers, the drill team coach, and the captains when
Mrs. Hiers turned to me and told me that I was being made a drill team captain. I was ecstatic. For the rest of the year I was captain and although it did gain me some unwanted problems I had a great time and experience.
