Similar to EOPS, CARE is also regulated by Title 5 and provides additional supplemental support services for EOPS students who are Temporary Aid to
Needy Families (TANF) recipients, single heads of household with at least one child under the age of 14 years old, and who can benefit from college-level
educational and vocational training to break the cycle of welfare dependency.
CARE students are provided all EOPS services as well as additional CARE grants, meal tickets, and informational workshops. On February 28 and 29, 2008,
the EOPS/CARE program went through the Chancellor’s Office Student Services Program Review and Technical Assistance Site Visit. Prior to the visit,
EOPS/CARE was required to submit a self evaluation. Please refer to the EOPS Unit/Area Action Plan for the Summary Report.

Continuing goals (if you did not do a unit plan, skip to the next box):
Goal(s): Because CARE students are EOPS students, the CARE goals listed below are additional to the EOPS goals.
Goal 1: Provide CARE grants.
Goal 2: Provide weekly meal tickets.
Goal 3: Provide informational workshops in collaboration with CalWORKs.
