EOPS Would like to introduce you to our newest faculty additions within the department: Marlene Ramirez-Mooney, EOPS Counseling Faculty and Instructor November 2015 EOPS Quick News Happy Thanksgiving It is an honor and privilege to work with our students in the role of Counselor and Instructor. I feel fortunate to be able to come to work each day and do my hearts work as I guide students towards meeting their academic goals. Our entire team at EOPS is amazing and dedicated to the success of our students. I continue to be inspired by the determination and courage our students demonstrate each day. Our students are not only creating change in their lives but also in the lives of their families and future generations to come. As a first generation college student myself, I can relate to many of the challenges they sometimes face. I like to remind students that all of the sacrifices they are making to complete their education will be worth it in the end. Education is a powerful vehicle for growth. For me personally, higher education has allowed me to tap into my life's purpose and serve our students with compassion and gratitude. I continue to learn and grow each day and look forward to the future with EOPS! Contact EOPS at (909)652-6349 or (909)652-6358. Myra Andrade, EOPS Counseling Faculty Rancho– MACC-205 Dear EOPS Students, Monday-Friday My name is Myra Andrade and I am currently serving as an EOPS/CARE Counselor. I have worked at Chaffey College since 2011 and have enjoyed every year! Chino– Main Instructional Building I attended East Los Angeles College, completed my general education requirements and transferred to Chapman University to obtain a Bachelor of Art in Criminal Justice. About a year after my bachelors I began my Master of Science in Educational Counseling at the University of La Verne. I have benefitted greatly from my education, I wake up every morning to do what I love and that has brought a great deal of personal as well as professional satisfaction. Wednesday and Thursday I truly enjoy working with EOPS/CARE students. I identify myself with many of you since I too had to balance a variety of roles while attending college. Not only was I a first generation college student but I was also a full time employee and a single mother. I learned very quickly that obtaining my education was going to require a lot of hard work and dedication. Time: 3:00pm-4:00pm Everyone has a story, allow your story to motivate and empower those around you. Stay focused and always remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. One of my greatest accomplishments was graduating with EOPS from Chaffey College in spring of 2015. Graduating from Chaffey College was a great accomplishment for me because I am the first in my family to strive towards a higher education. I am currently a full time student at California State University San Bernardino. I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree in communication studies with an emphasis on public relations and minoring in Sociology. Helping others reach a higher education has always been a passion of mine, which makes my job as an apprentice for EOPS rewarding. I would like to thank all of the counselors, staff members, and peer advisors at EOPS for helping me reach my educational goals and ultimately changing my entire life. My advice for other EOPS students is to keep striving towards success, regardless of any situations that may occurs. There is a light at the end of the tunnel if you keep trying and never give up!
