TELEVISION SPECIALIST ARCHIVIST: TELEVISION ARCHIVES Scale code 401 – Position ID 60003434) MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION The Archives Media Specialist is responsible for much of the day to day work involving, films, videos, audio recordings and other media materials, dating back many years, held by the Television Archives. This position is part of the Archives team working with both Archives staff and in collaboration with Technical Communications staff. This role emphasizes organizational, communication, and customer service skills. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Manage and teach the application of standardized formal audiovisual metadata to optimize their discovery and use Appraise, plan, recommend, and implement basic conservation measures for audiovisual types held within the Archives Implement and cultivate asset and/or archives management databases for describing audiovisual materials Perform and develop systems for prioritizing and preparing audiovisual materials for digitization Develop workflows and procedures facilitating the inclusion of born digital audiovisual materials into archives Increase outreach to stakeholders and record creators to enhance accurate description and preservation of Laboratory audiovisual materials prior to archival transfer Assist in Archives areas outside of audio-visual materials including some reference, copy requests, acquisitions, exhibits, and other outreach activities QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Relevant Qualification in Archival Field Five (5) years’ work experience in archival technology or related field. Proficient with standard MS Office applications Proven expertise in using and configuring asset and archives management tools Expertise in legacy media and equipment as well as current technology.
