PRESS RELEASE (02.12.2014) Special Night with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga at Gent Jazz Festival Numbered seating on seated festival days With a unique duo concert of Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga on 12 July, Gent Jazz Festival is today announcing the first names for the 2015 edition (10-19 July). The collaboration between Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga is remarkable to say the least. Bennett, the legendary jazz crooner, and Lady Gaga, a pop icon in the true sense of the word. Tony Bennett saw Lady Gaga doing her thing at a charity concert, and Bennett asked her to record a duet for his album 'Duets II'. Despite a 60-year age difference, they immediately clicked and the idea of them recording an album together took shape. This resulted in the album with jazz standards, 'Cheek To Cheek', released earlier this year. A few months back Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga were in Brussels' Grand Place for a mini concert promoting that album, when by chance their tour schedules brought them to Brussels on the same day. Apart from the Bennett-Gaga duo, the American pianist Bill Charlap is also playing with his trio. Charlap has worked with Tony Bennett several times in the past. With his trio he's set to deliver American mainstream jazz, with the Great American Songbook as a guide. Also on 12 July, the Stéphane Belmondo Trio are performing an ode to Chet Baker with their project ‘Love For Chet’. Belmondo’s homage to Baker is to be released as a CD in spring 2015. More focus on comfort Gent Jazz Festival has been endeavouring to enhance visitors' comfort and concert experience and the sound quality, catering, festival site decoration, etc. The festival traditionally consists of days with seated concerts and those with standing concerts. From the 2015 edition, for days with seated concerts the festival is to provide guaranteed and numbered seating, and work with prices in different categories. Further names for Gent Jazz Festival will be announced later. Ticket sales for this special night of Sunday 12 July commence on Friday 5 December at 11 am.
