PROSPECTUS
La Virgen de Guadalupe is not just about the church - SHE IS MEXICO
Curiously, the power of belief in the Virgin of Guadalupe has little to do with membership or attendance
in the church. In fact, it is said that while 89 of 100 Mexicans are Catholic, it is certain that 100 of 100
Mexicans are Guadalupanas, devotees to the Virgin.
The Virgen is a symbol of the homeland, patriotism, nationalism.

The Virgin Mary is known by many titles (Blessed Mother, Virgin, Madonna, Our Lady), epithets (Star of
the Sea, Queen of Heaven, Cause of Our Joy), invocations (Theotokos, Panagia, Mother of Mercy) and
other names (Our Lady of Loreto, Our Lady of Guadalupe). All of these titles refer to the same individual
named Mary, and are used variably by Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and some
Anglicans. A few of the titles given to Mary are dogmatic in nature. Many other titles are poetic or
allegorical and have lesser or no canonical status, but which form part of popular piety, with varying
degrees of acceptance by the clergy. Yet more titles refer to depictions of Mary in the history of art.

Entry Guidelines:
1. ALL WORK MUST BE PRESENTABLE:
- Clean, dust & odor free
- Fully dry
- READY TO HANG: Framed with WIRE HANGER NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS
Art NOT ready to hang properly, artist will be charged $20 for wiring.
2. Art should be protected:
- Drawings, pastels, watercolors, photographs, etc. MUST be under glass.
3. Artist must provide their own display unit/base for ceramics, sculptures or carvings.
- Must be approved by gallery.
4. ALL ART MUST BE ORIGINAL
Copies of paintings or class studies will NOT be accepted.
Limited editions that are signed and numbered will be acceptable if
accompanied with Certificate of Authenticity.
Gallery has the right to refuse any artwork considered unsuitable.
Art MUST be picked up immediately following end of show.
Picture This is NOT liable for art left after scheduled pick up dates.
Artist will be charged $20 fee per day for storage if left after pick up dates.
