LESSON PLAN English 3 Unit 16: The weather Lesson: 1 I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to identify the weather. + Phonics: hot, weather + Vocabulary: Through the story students will get new words about the weather such as: weather, today, sunny, windy, rainy, cloudy, hot, cold, fine… + Sentence patterns: What is the weather like? It’s sunny What is the weather like in Hanoi today? It’s rainy + After the lesson, Students will be able to: Read and understand the dialogue in the textbook. Work in pair, ask and answer the question about the weather. Play game by using the new words about the weather. - Teaching Aids: Textbook, pictures, pointer, board, chalk, flashcards of weather logos. II. Procedure Teacher (T) Purpose 1. Look, listen and repeat - T asks Ss to open the book to page 42 and ask - To find out the name of characters in the them to look at the dialogue and answer the dialogue. questions: How many students are there in the dialogue? Who are they? - T explains they are Linda and Mai and they talk about the weather - T provides the meaning of the weather and give the meaning what is the weather like and It’s sunny through a picture - Help Ss understand the topic they will learn about - Explain the structure asking about the weather by using picture - To practice the structure - T divides class into 2 groups. Have one group will ask the question what’s the weather like? And another group will answer It’s sunny. - T asks some question to check students’ comprehension - T calls some pair to check and correct their pronunciation. - T uses ruler and beat on the table and ask whole class to read aloud as a rhyme. 2. Look and say - T asks Ss to look at the picture a, b, c, d and reads aloud the weather icons rainy, cloudy, windy…on page 42. - T recalls the structure What is the weather like and ask Ss to repeat each word and point to appropriate picture. - T asks Ss to work in pair, ask and answer the question what is the weather like through the picture - T goes around the class and check their comprehension by repeat the structure What‘s the weather like? - To check whether Ss understand or not - To check and correct their pronunciation - Identify the new words - To practice the structure about the weather and its answer - To check their comprehension - To find out and correct their mistakes It’s sunny/rainy/cloudy/windy - T selects one pair to perform the task. The rest of the class observe and give comments - T points a picture and asks one pair to check their comprehension and correct their pronunciation. 3. Talk - T asks Ss to play a game - Firstly, T divides class into 2 big groups and provides each group 9 pictures about the weather. - Then T hangs 9 key words about the weather on the board: sunny, cloudy, rainy, stormy, windy, snowy, foggy, hot, cold. - T divides the board in to 2 parts and hangs 9 key words on each part. - After that T reminds that each group will have 2 minutes to paste 9 pictures with 9 key words on the board in correct position. - The group which has more correct answers will be the winner and receive a gift. - To help Ss practice the structure about the weather. - To review the lesson about the weather - To review the new words about the weather - To encourage Ss pay attention to the lesson and create a exciting atmosphere
