Teacher’s name: Courtney Muras
Time: Monday, March 10, 2014/3/5, 9:30
Class: 2C
Materials: computer with projector, weather flashcards, game pieces, board games
Lesson Description and Justification
This semester I am continuing to teach the students daily conversation. We previously
practiced “Hello, How are you?” and 8 different answers that students can give. I would
like the students to review daily conversation in every class and use it in their lives so I am
trying to introduce words that are relevant to their lives and experiences. For example,
today we are learning to answer the question “How’s the weather?” and I am teaching 4
vocabulary words: sunny, rainy, windy, cloudy. I hope that the students will reach a level
where they can understand and distinguish between different questions and answer with
more confidence.
Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to….
*Answer the question “How are you?”
*Say 4 weather words (sunny, rainy, windy, cloud)
*say a complete sentence. Ex: It’s sunny.
*look at the flashcards or pictures and respond with the correct sentence

*Students will sit down.
Instruction (9:35-9:45)
Andy Ant, How’s the weather? (skit)
The teacher will play a short video. The students will look at the weather and the teacher
will elicit the correct answer. After the answer is displayed, the students will respond
with the full sentence.
Example:
“sunny. It’s sunny. It’s sunny today”
The teacher will display the weather on 4 large flashcards and students will say and act out
the weather.
The teacher will ask the students to answer the question in small groups.
Guided Practice (9:45-9:57)
The teacher will give the students a paper with pictures similar to the pictures on the
flashcards. Students will say the different kinds of weather and point to the correct answer.
Class game: The teacher will demo the board game for the students.
Independent practice (9:57-10:07)
Students will play a board game. The students must say the sentence as they play with
their friends. The teacher will observe the students to determine their ability to recall the
vocabulary. The teacher will observe each pair and ask questions/help the students play
if necessary.
Review (10:07-10:10)
The teacher will write 2 questions on the board:

How’s the weather?
The teacher will briefly review correct answers.
If time, the teacher will ask the students one of the 2 questions.
