Brain Advertising Project

You group is an advertising agency selected by the __________________ to promote its
unique characteristics and jobs.
Objective: Your group will create a print and graphic advertisement, to be presented to
the class. The advertisement must emphasize the specialties of your client. Be sure to define
what the client does, give its location within the brain, and explain its importance. Create a
catchphrase or slogan that will help your classmates remember your client and its importance.
The advertisement must contain print and graphic. Be creative and remember your objective in
this project.
Project Objective
After the presentations by each group student will be able to name, define and describe the
functions of the following parts of the brain, located from the brainstem through the cortex:
1. Medulla2. Pons3. Cerebellum4. Reticular Formation5. Thalamus6. Hypothalamus7. Limbic SystemSample Project
Client: the two hemispheres of the brain
The group would emphasize that each hemisphere controls the opposite motor functions
of the body, that one hemisphere influences speech while the other influences spatial reasoning
and that one hemisphere is usually dominate. Their slogan might be “Two halves are better than
one.” The graphic advertisement could include the print description with words on one side and
pictures or symbols on the other side.
Remember…ALL group members contribute to the success of the project and remain on
task during class time. The graphic advertisement should be clean, organized, colored, ect. The
text and graphics should complement and support one another. Finally, prepare the entire group
to present the advertisement to the class and “sell” the product!
You will have two days in class to complete the project and will present on the third day.
Each group will receive a grade based on the group knowledge of the information, organization,
neatness and completeness of the advertisement, presentation, and effective use of class time.
