Petrea Webster Message from the President, Paul Brewin In the event of an earthquake, please vacate the clubhouse immediately ____________ At the AGM last month I reported another hugely successful year, with significant growth in membership numbers and increased participation by our members in social Club sessions and in interclub. We have the best coach on the Shore (we are not biased of course!) and a fantastic committee of volunteers, with a great spread of skills and business experience. Looking forward, our greatest challenge for 2014/5 will be the clubhouse redevelopment. This will take some considerable time, as we undertake the usual due diligence, go through the consenting process, raise the funds etc. In the meantime, we have a building which does not meet current seismic minima (like many such buildings in Auckland); the clubhouse was built over 80 years ago and has stood the test of time. It is still a safe clubhouse, unless an earthquake strikes. “End of an Era” Dinner and Dance 1 November 2014 RESERVE THE DATE! Please make sure all your friends and family who use our Club know the MTC earthquake procedure – YOU MUST vacate immediately; DO NOT “Drop, Cover, Hold” To launch our “Clubhouse Fundraising” we will be holding a Dinner and Dance on Saturday 1 Nov – read below for details. I do hope you will all get behind this initiative, as we work together to create a new, purpose-built clubhouse – a very exciting prospect! We have the once in a lifetime opportunity to build a wonderful clubhouse for our own enjoyment and for use by generations of tennis players to come. Here’s to another successful season!
