Year 2 Curriculum Map Term 5, 2014-15
Term 5 already! Wow! Another busy term awaits, and we welcome Mrs. Jenny Gooch into our super class.
Our main topic this term will revolve around night time including nocturnal animals and how it becomes night. In English we will also be immersing
ourselves in the character Mr. Gum, in his books by Andy Stanton. Mr. Gum is a very funny character, and his books are definitely worth a read!
Show & tell - 'Me' boxes
This term all the children will be asked to bring in a small box (a shoebox or similar) containing three items or photos that are important to them. This is
called a 'me' box and you will have the opportunity during the week to tell the class about what you have put in the box and why you have chosen it.
Please bring your box in on the Monday for your tribe as follows:
Kikuyu – week commencing Monday 20th April
Kamba – week commencing Monday 27th April
Luo – week commencing Tuesday 5th May
Masai – week commencing Monday 11th May
Year 2 dates for your diary;
Wednesday 13th May (pm) – Sports Day. Parents welcome to watch. (reserve date Tuesday 19th May)
Thursday 21st May – KS1 trip to Farmer Nick.
A Message from Mrs. Gooch
I am really pleased to join Hutton School and to work with the Year 2 class. I have had the opportunity to spend some time in the class already so I have
started to find out what you have been doing and learn a few of your names! Mrs. Lovely and I have worked together closely to plan for the term ahead.
My usual teaching days will be Mondays and Tuesdays. I am looking forward to an exciting term with Year 2 and getting to know you and your families.
As always, if you have any worries or queries, please do come to speak to us!
Many Thanks,
Mrs Gooch & Mrs Lovely
