Earthquakes
Use the provided websites to answer the questions on Schoology. Each part builds on the previous part,
so when you have earned full points, you may go on to the next part. Otherwise, you will need to repeat
the Schoology quiz making sure you have mastered this section. Show your teacher your scores on each
part before moving on to the next part
Part 1
Go to USGS: Earthquakes for Kids http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/kids/
Click on the “Science of Earthquakes button”.
Part 2
Go to: http://www.iknowthat.com/mhscience/Earthquakes/Fixed.htm
Click “Play”. After the Earthquake, locate with the cursor each of the words and use the information to
answer the Schoology questions.
Part 3
Go to: http://www.iknowthat.com/mhscience/Earthquakes/earthquake_movie.html
Set the magnitude to each of the different settings given on Schoology and begin the Earthquake. Select
the damage that resulted after about 20 seconds.
Part 4
Go to USGS: Earthquakes for Kids http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/kids/
Click on Learning Links& Earthquake Activities
Find Kid’s Earthquake Questions & Answers (4th one down) - Kid’s questions answered by a scientist.
Click on the Link, Read and then answer the Schoology questions.
