Prior to Stephen’s arrival, the ERM team developed a list of tasks we wanted to expose him to as part of Enterprise Release Management. These tasks included: 1) Exposure to the Release Management Support Processes 2) Shadowing and being mentored by a team member on Release Management reporting processes and procedures 3) Provide shadow support for the June & July release weekends 4) Provide support for the August Interim Release 5) Follow up tasks in support of Release Weekend activities. 6) Follow up activities from weekly Thursday Enterprise Release Project Detailed Status Meetings. 7) Assist with the Reports Inventory Streamling Assessment Stephen met all of these objectives and then some during his internship with our team. With minimal guidance, Stephen was able to successfully complete and exceed the tasks that were assigned to him. He also mastered multiple tasks and was able to complete these tasks independently of his mentor. They include the following: 1) Assisted the ERM team with identifying and implementing several process improvements. Stephen developed several Excel VBA macros that resulted in tangible costs savings in excess of $27k/per year. He also created the supporting ERM departmental guidelines and held several training sessions with the team to ensure all team members were aware of the new process and guidelines and comfortable with using the newly created macros. Stephen also assisted with the Reports Inventory Streamling assessments that resulted in a significant costs savings. Please see below for a complete listing of these tasks. He was exposed to and mastered the following tasks allowing him to complete these tasks without supervision: a. Follow-up on outstanding weekly status data as well as completion of the attendance tracker and PM Preparedness tracker. b. Follow-up on outstanding release weekend tasks completions. Stephen was also requested and successfully coordinated and organized the bi-monthly ERM integration meetings. LEARNING OBJECTIVES LIST OF LEARNING OBJECTIVES RESULTS *Gain exposure to the various job opportunities within the organization. *Focus on ERM operations to identify any area that would benefit from process improvements and develop the means to implement the identified solutions to result in effiencies. As stated above in the Work Assignments section, Stephen achieved this and more by not only identifying several process improvements, did an awesome job with following through with implementing them within a short time period. Great job Stephen!! PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 1. What positive personal and professional qualities, characteristics and/or abilities did the intern demonstrate? Stephen is very personable and professional. He is well spoken and effective in his communication. He is driven, assertive, motivated and has a great work ethic. He constantly asks questions seeking the necessary knowledge to complete his assignments on time. He demonstrated above average technical aptitude to efficiently complete his assignments. He takes personal responsibility and accountability for his work. He is organized and completes his assignments on time and with quality results. Finally, Stephen was very open and receptive to constructive feedback, often times independently requesting feedback, to effectively and efficiently complete his assignments. His process improvement contributions were valuable and resulted in a significant cost savings. He has been a great addition to the team! 2. What personal and professional qualities, characteristics and/or abilities should the intern strive to improve upon or acquire? At times, Stephen found himself waiting for direction to proceed with his assignments. He should continue to ask questions and schedule meetings with the appropriate team members to continue to drive his tasks forward. He should also continue to seek knowledge of the business and build relationships as they will be leveraged when working on current and future assignments. With minimal guidance, Stephen was very effective in these areas and I am confident that he will continue to grow and be even more effective in these areas in the future.
