GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS:


Participants/Artists must be employed by Norman Public Schools, or its subsidiaries, or be
a spouse of an employee.
Participant/Artist may enter his or her work in Division A or Division B. Division A is for
advanced artists, Division B is for all other participants. Those who should enter Division A
are:



Any person who routinely sells his/her work
Any person employed in a profession that creates visual art, such as an art teacher,
photographer, graphic artist, architect, or illustrator. Any submission by artists in these
professions must also be created “off the clock”.
Any person who has had a professional, curated, or gallery exhibition of his/her work.
CATEGORIES:
All works will be judged in the category of the artist’s selection. Please read through all category
descriptions before choosing the appropriate option for each artwork.
A. 2D PAINTING/DRAWING – On canvas or paper (no mixed media)
B. MIXED MEDIA – Mix of 2 or more types of media in a 2D format (collage-like)
C. PHOTOGRAPHY – Black & White (minimal alteration)
D. PHOTOGRAPHY – Color (minimal alteration)
E. DIGITAL ART – High levels of computer alteration or creation
F. SCULPTURE – Wire or other media (stone, clay, wood)
G. STUDIO/FINE CRAFTS – Ceramics, woodwork, glass work (stained, blown, fused)
H. FIBER ART – Anything made of fabric or other fiber (crochet, knitting, quilting, general
sewing, weaving, macramé, etc.)

JEWELRY – Beaded, metal, stone, wire, etc.
RULES:

All entries must be created outside of work hours (i.e., off the clock)

Art that was created using a “kit” will not be granted entry into the contest.

No one person can enter more than 3 pieces per category into the show.

Entries are to be delivered to the Fine Arts Department at the PDC by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
January 21, 2014. Fine Arts personnel will transport the work to the O’Brian Center. If the
art work is large and/or delicate, do not take it to the PDC. Please call Cindy Norlin for
delivery information.

All entries are to be reclaimed by the artists after the close of the “Off the Clock” art show at
the Nancy O’Brian Center for the Performing Arts. Remaining artwork will be transported
back to the PDC on Monday, February 10, and will be available for pick-up Tuesday,
February 11, at the PDC.
PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS:

All entries must be the original work of the submitting artist.

All 2D art entries must be framed or mounted on matboard for presentation at the show.
Artworks that are not mounted or framed will not be accepted.

Each entry must be labeled with the artist’s name, category, and title. Artwork Registration
forms and labels will be provided by NPS Fine Arts. Works labeled “untitled” will be
admitted, but this designation should be avoided if possible. Division A or Division B must
also be selected for each work.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Judges will choose the top three artworks for each category (Division “A” and Division “B”),
and Best in Show.

Judges for the “Off The Clock” art show will be independent local artists and art teachers
from the Norman community.

A “People’s Choice” winner will be selected by ballot.

Ribbons will be awarded to the winners.

Winners have the opportunity to have their works displayed at ASC after the show for the
month of February.
