The major focus of the SRA Summer Learning Program is to provide academic assistance such as small
groups, instruction remediation and other educational interventions to those students who were not
able to accomplish their curriculum objectives during the regular school year. Eligible students will
attend the summer learning program June 9 – July 25, 2014 for 29 days. SRA students in current KG – 8th

1. All “strugglers” in grades KG – 8th in Reading and Math.
2. KG - 8th graders who failed a subject.
3. Academic Deficiencies – Any student who is below grade level will be required to attend summer school,
do additional work, or be recommended for demotion.
4. Receiving a final grade of “F” in three (3) academic subjects, (Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and
Language) will be retained.
5. If student fail more than three subjects, they will not be able to make them up during summer school.
In such cases, the principal must decide if the student will be allowed to attend summer school.
6. Failing two academic subjects will necessitate summer school in order to be promoted.
7. Students who fail Math, Reading or Language or receive a “D” or “I” in these subjects as the final grade.
Cost
Eligible students will attend at the cost of $140.00 per week.
Promotion/Placed
Students may be promoted to/or placed in the next grade level as a result of summer performance in
July. This is the decision of the school principal. However, third graders must pass the ITBS in Reading
above level one to be promoted, and fifth and eighth graders must pass the ITBS in Reading and math
above level one to be promoted and eighth grader SRA placement test to be promoted.
