To earn a glow in the dark token and a passport stamp, complete at least 5 of the following and return this form to the
office by April 1. Students who complete more than 5 activities can earn extra stickers/stamps. Students do not have to
bring in projects to get credit—a parent can initial this form.
1.
Using a map of Europe (there is one in the Everything Europe packet) label at least 5 of the following
landmarks: Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Parthenon, Matterhorn, Neuschwanstein Castle, Big Ben,
Schönbrunn Place, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Doge’s Palace, Buckingham Palace.
2. Find out which country hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics. Put Olympic Rings on that country.
3. Create a flag of a European country. There is a poster in the library or you can look on line. You can
draw and color a flag or use your creativity to make one. Some ideas might be to use colored pasta to
make a flag of Italy, use tissue paper, use paint or other art supplies to make a flag from any European
country.
4. Read a folktale or fairy tale from Europe. There are many in the library.

5. Plan a trip to a country you would like to visit. Fill in the planning sheet. Color the country green on the
map. There are brochures in the library to help you plan.
6. Make crêpes. There is a recipe in the packet. What country’s filling did you use?
7. Choose a character from a favorite folktale or fairy tale and make a puppet. Several choices and directions
are included in the packet available in the office or from Mrs. Johnston. Include family members or
friends and put on a puppet show
8. If you have visited countries in Europe, color them yellow on the map. If
you have not visited Europe, interview someone who has. What did you (or they)
see there?

Color a coloring sheet with a European theme (castle, knights, famous landmarks, etc.). There are some
in the Everything Europe Packet.
10. Castles are an important part of European history and fairy tales. Draw a picture of a castle or build a
model of one. Bring it to the school and Mrs. Johnston will display it.
11. What flower is associated with the Netherlands? Draw a picture of this flower and color it.
12. Many of Jan Brett’s books take place in European countries. Visit her website at www.janbrett.com to find
out which ones. Download a color sheet from the site (or get one from the packet). Color the sheet and
bring it to school for Mrs. Johnston to display.
13. Create a mask like those worn in Italy.
14. Design a travel poster for a European country showing one or some of its famous characteristics or
landmarks.
15. What time is it in each country below when it is 9:00 a.m. EST in Bangor, Maine?

16. Go online to the Scholastic global trek interactive site at http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/globaltrek
This site will allow you to pick a destination in Europe. Keep a journal about your virtual trip.
17. Make a light catcher. There are instructions in the packet. You may bring it to school to hang in our
lobby.
18. Learn how to say hello in 4 different European Languages. Write the words below.
