Collection Volunteer Role Description What is it about? Ranging from Ancient Egypt to local history, natural history to art, Bolton Museum is home to some superb collections. The museum also plays host to an Aquarium which specialises in tropical freshwater fish and the Bolton History Centre. At different times in the year the museum will have opportunities for volunteers to work on projects connected to these collections. We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in: Assisting with time-limited projects linked to one or more of these collections Helping with a variety of collections tasks including documentation, display, interpreting objects with the public and conservation. This role will suit people who…. Museology, Conservation & other relevant specialist subject course students Adults who have specialist interest in our collections When will it happen? Between Monday and Friday, 9.00 am – 5.00pm. Some activities may also happen at the weekend. The role will be time limited. The start and end date will depend on the project you are assigned to. Who will I be working with? Members of the Collections team including our Collection Access Officers and Conservator Support and training You will be given a named contact in the library & museum service: your library and museum contact will be on hand to answer any queries or concerns you may have about your volunteering sessions in the museum. An induction to the service and appropriate training will be provided.
