This handmade Persian
rug is eight by ten feet
in the Sultanabad
design. The town of
Sultanabad, modernday Arak, has been an
important center for
carpet production since
the 1800s. Sultanabad
refers to not only the
town, but a region that includes outlying areas
engaged in village carpet weaving. Carpet
production in Sultanabad has flourished and
ebbed in direct relation to world historic events
including wars, western influence in Asia and
world demand for imported textile goods.
The common elements shared within these
different styles define a regional tradition that is
distinct from those in adjacent areas.
Sultanabad rugs use the Persian or
asymmetrical knot, generally have a cotton
foundation (warp and weft) with woolen pile and
use several conventions of floral motifs and
colors. Knot count usually falls within the 70 to
150 knots per square inch (kpsi) range,
although some are higher, at 300 kpsi or more.
These carpets are made in various sizes; a
large format to accommodate rooms in western
houses became typical for Sultanabad carpets.
Established in 1984, Navab Brothers is a
family-owned and operated business dedicated
to quality service and customer satisfaction. We
selected this genuine handmade article for its
authentic raw materials, uniqueness of design
and quality craftsmanship.

General Mills Kitchen Tour
with Dinner & Wine for Six
2L
Handmade Persian Rug
Overlook a rolling green lawn, pond and two
prominent sculptural art pieces are the Betty
Crocker Kitchens of General Mills. Each year
thousands of recipes are rigorously tested and
developed for cookbooks, magazines and
websites. The spacious kitchens, 19 in total,
claim 13,000 square feet of space for its work
including the largest corporate cookbook library
in the United States. Not only beautifully
designed with the likes of 18,000 tons of granite
but functionally practical with consumer style
appliances and kitchen equipment, the Betty
Crocker Kitchens are a fascinating place to see.
Until 1985, the Kitchens were among the top
three destinations stops for Minnesota tours
with people making the trip from all over the
United States and occasionally the world. By
the time tours were discontinued in 1985, about
2 million people witnessed the workings of the
Betty Crocker Kitchens.
Opportunities to tour the Kitchens are rare and
very infrequent; to include a cooking activity is,
on top of rare is extraordinary! An evening in
the Betty Crocker Kitchens will include a tour of
the entire space, a cooking demonstration (with
participation) and of course, intermittent sips of
wine.
Tour must be scheduled before October 31,
2012.

Silver Palm Chardonnay
The grapes for Silver Palm Chardonnay come
exclusively from California’s North Coast
American Viticultural Area (AVA), which
includes Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino
counties. The region is profoundly influenced by
cool coastal air and fog from the Pacific Ocean,
resulting in temperate vineyard microclimates
ideal for the cultivation of Chardonnay.
Mother Nature was kind in 2009! Here on the
North Coast, we had cool, mild weather, which
caused grape ripening to develop slowly and
evenly. This resulted in above average fruit
quality and full, opulent flavors.
