Community: Safety - Continue to make this a priority. Disaster scenarios and lockdown drills will take place in October. Continue to wear badges and watch for badges on everybody. Intruder drills will continue. First and kinder hallway doors, watch for kids opening doors. Watch for visitors entering in delivery area of cafeteria. Please always be on the lookout for anyone that doesn’t belong in our building. Watch D.O.G.S. – Averaging 1 or 2 Dads a day. Be positive when you see the Dads, and say thank you. They are making a positive change on our campus. Fall Festival – Start thinking about your booth, October 25th, 4:30 – 7:30. Military support coming in for the Haunted House, our unit is being deployed, but hopefully getting other soldiers to fill in. Sign-up is first come, first serve. Family Literacy Project – starts in January, 10 weeks. Virginia Carrillo, Letty Terrazas, Art Escajeda, and Michelle Olivas. Family Nights – to show parents what kids are learning in school, and tips to help at home. Please encourage your students and their families to attend. Online Newsletters – Please turn them in and have them up before we go on intersession. Anonymous Alerts - Can anonymously report bullying and campus will get report Curriculum: Tutoring – started in Sept for SPED and Bilingual students only, T & W, 3rd – 5th, going well. Intersession Sept. 30 – October 2 (8:00 – 12:00) – 3rd- 5th, give teacher names who will teach, student selection retained or placed students, failure progress reports, STAAR data, attendance committee recommendations. Maribel Nunez will be working with ESL support; there are 36 Pre-K and K students for ESL academies. PBIS – This is our discipline plan. Shine Shop was successful. Please continue to give Gold Tickets, have them on you and make the effort to give them out. Shine Shop – no menu because things sold out SIT Meeting Notes September 2013 before all kids got there. Privileges or rewards can be bought in classroom or Shine Shop. Each grade level PBIS member will be responsible for their grade level. Staff Development Needs – Teacher Tuesdays (sometimes optional, some days info must be given out during conference or after school) and STAR Academies, there have to be opportunities to learn throughout the semester instead of all in one shot on half days. Announcements – need to be on and students listening. Starting 2nd Nine weeks, pledges and moment of silence on PA, then after two-minute trivia on IWB, followed by broadcast. Super School- This enrichment and intervention time begins on October 15th (3rd-5th). EPAC Update: Safety First, be visible during transition times. Breakfast in the classroom. Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline Technology – Hector Reyna, Miguel Moreno – all teachers will receive tablet by November. Tyler – SCE-I coach for Tyler difficulties, email HelpDesk, email Miguel Moreno Team Share: PE – 3rd – 5th, Fitness-Gram testing will start, all students need to be in PE. If they need to be kept in, please send a note with students who have to go back. Coaches will test those first and then send them back. Basketball tryouts for 5th grade girls and boys in October. No health for 3, 4, 5. PK - nothing K - nothing 1st – Swipe keys for skills lab? Kids should not open printer trays or printer. 12:30 – 1:00 Project lab for Bilingual 1st grade 2nd - no show 3rd – Nothing 4th – Nothing 5th – Will progress reports be due on Fridays or can they have the weekend? Visit all campus by the end of the year Counselors – nothing, Career day was great. Parents – What is role? How do I communicate to other parents? All meeting minutes are on LCE website. How can parents get more involved on campus? What programs are available on campus? Pat Bonilla – passed out business cards for Priceless Memories Library – please continue to send only 2 students at a time on a pass. GT – no trip during school day in October. UTEP band game day trip on October 12. November - Texas history and visit the missions, December see performance of “Christmas Carol” at UTEP Theatre on December 16. Parent liaison– Custodian’s week , first week when we come back, please show appreciation, does not need to be monetary, kids draw pictures or cards.
