VACANCY BUL ETIN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ PROFESSOR (PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES) ARCADIA CAMPUS POST LEVEL: 6/5 REF. 13/610B PERIOD [5 YEAR FIXED-TERM] Tshwane University of Technology has a 5 year Fixed-Term position for Professor/Associate Professor (Pharmaceutical Sciences) at the Arcadia Campus. This position is linked to the NRF/DST Chair in Phytomedicine and is renewable after the initial period of 5 years for a further term of 5 years. Key Performance Areas The key function of the incumbent will be conducting and promoting research within the research group of the NRF/DST Chair in Phytomedicine hosted in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The training and supervision of postgraduate students is integral to the core function of this position. Securing external funding for research and the assumption of a leading role in the research in the department will be expected. The incumbent will be required to present modules in the integrated, thematic, problembased, four year professional Bachelor of Pharmacy degree programme and the Bachelor of Technology Pharmaceutical Sciences programme. To play a role in the quality management, development and revision of the curricula in collaboration with industry stakeholders as aligned to the strategic vision of the department. Liaise with industry and other stakeholders regarding excursions, research and community projects. Participate in administrative leadership in departmental, faculty and institutional committees and activities relating to the learning programmes of the department Academic Requirements ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: Academic qualifications: A relevant doctoral degree with a first degree in the natural, life, pharmaceutical or health sciences. At least five years experience in teaching pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical microbiology, pharmaceutical chemistry, organic chemistry, chemistry, medicinal chemistry or phytochemistry. Evidence of a proven research track record in the area of natural products, phytochemistry, pharmaceutics and/or pharmaceutical technology, medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry or in the pharmaceutical industry. An NRF rating as researcher will serve as a strong recommendation. Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals is essential. A qualification in Education would be a strong recommendation. Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council is recommended but not essential.
